Well, just a day before the election the Romney campaign appears pretty confident that it will prevail here despite polling showing the state as perhaps the closest race in the nation.
"Florida's baked," a top Romney advisor tells Toby Harden of The Daily Mail, meaning the campaign seems pretty confidant they'll prevail.
Sure, Democrats have a small but significant advantage over Republicans in votes already cast through early voting and absentee ballots, but Harden reports that after only Indiana and North Carolina, Romney insiders are the most confidant of winning Florida than all the other swing states. Even more confidant than in Virginia.
This morning on MSNBC, Vice President Joe Biden meanwhile seemed less than confident of his ticket's chances in Florida. While predicting wins in other swing states, Biden only gave Obama an "even chance" of winning Florida.
However, the Obama campaign has the luxury of not being able to sweat a loss in Florida. The President can still lose in Florida and be left with a decent path to victory as long as he wins in states like Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin.

(14,337 posts)Rick Scott makes Jeb Bush look like a Boy Scout. Nothing would please me more to have Obama win WITHOUT Florida.

(1,117 posts)I guess I am undecided about Florida. Now I feel like the undecided voters out there.
I'm not sure what to think either. Maybe the last minute Bloomberg endorsement will help convince some of the NY transplants down there.

(39,313 posts)and the lines show enthusiasm, but the numbers are a tad low compared to 2008 supposedly

(18,624 posts)So many polls have called the state for Romney, and I tend to believe them. Still, Florida is somewhat diverse in that nobody is really from there, and it all depends on who shows up tomorrow and their demographic.

(39,313 posts)may well decide it. Let's hope the Republicans lack motivation this year.

(15,435 posts)so I don't trust much that goes on when it comes to voting in this state. Seen way too much already.
My husband is a native from Tampa, but this state is not the same state as when he was born! There are times I DON'T want to tell people where I'm from. Would LOVE to say Dems will win, but with JEBBY always in the background I just can't say!
flamingdem
(39,313 posts)to hard to hide the extra votes. Do you remember how much he won by in 2008?
The reason I hold out hope: all the new registrations, Latinos less conservative than before, Medicare/Ryan

(15,435 posts)I might be able to find a link for the answer. I'll be back if I find it.

(15,435 posts)Obama won FL... 50.9 to McCain's 48.4.
One thing I can guarantee this time around... that number won't be matched.
We've had some kind of wrench in registering, getting out the vote or general dirty tricks for a very long time this year! Registrations were down by a lot because of the 48 hour rule to register. A person could have been fined at least $1,000 for not returning registrations within 48 hours. A VERY hard thing to do, especially if you're canvassing door to door!
And they're still trying to stop people from voting. Wish I could say it looks good, but I can't. Obama has had a good ground game, but not for registering. Just door to door to see if you are voting or not. They ask, then say we hope you will consider voting for Democrats. Your choice to respond.
Rick Scott is JEBBY'S puppet & hasn't shown his face for a very long time. I think today he did something, but I think they've been hiding him because he's not very loved. But his favorables have gone up. How I don't know, but that's what the papers say.

(39,313 posts)Yay! But it's supposed to rain there tomorrow.. noooo
ChiciB1
(15,435 posts)I swear by him, but his numbers are scary high! Fingers crossed. Didn't see that coming.
And it shouldn't mean people shouldn't get out & VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! I already voted & 10 more of my family members have too. All Democrats!

(11,605 posts)My gut says Romney wins it, mainly due to the disenfranchisement of Democratic voters. But Nate Silver's turning it light blue is encouraging.
flamingdem
(39,313 posts)and if at this point he's including data like the numbers voting early. Only one concern, did they vote today because the prediction is for rain tomorrow?

(15,185 posts)Considering it was so close last time, I think with all the lines people are forced to wait, the intimidation, suppression, and every other tactic, we won't take it. As it is, weren't the polls extended in '08 by Christ? We can't expect any sort of cooperation from Scott this time.
So while I believe if a fair and competent election were to take place in FL, Obama would win by a small margin (~2 points), he likewise loses due to the incessant corruption in the state.
I'm hoping it won't be necessary. VA and CO are looking encouraging. OH is looking good, but Kasich and Husted will make voting as difficult as possible there. And there is some understandable skepticism over those electronic voting machines...
flamingdem
(39,313 posts)and Light Blue for Florida, now we never know but it sure is looking better than 2 weeks ago
