COMPTON ? CLINTON -- Introduced by LA's legendary US Rep. Maxine Waters who co-sponsored Conyers' bill calling for reparations for slavery and though a member of Bernie's progressive caucus has endorsed you guessed it Hillary Clinton:
No one can give a speech like the Big Dog who laid out Hillary's college loan repayment program and many, many other policies and made it all sound fascinating and yes I shook his hand and thanked him for coming to Cali WOO HOO!

(15,720 posts)But you know what? The Clintons don't need a big crowd to do their thing because they genuinely like people. And no one can dazzle a crowd like Bill . . . I knew he'd be here if she needed him and he's been working like hell to straighten out the people Bernie's busy mixing up LOL

(17,196 posts)Maybe but they stayed to hear how Hillary's going to do for California what Bill did for Compton . . . which was a lot!

(15,720 posts)I didn't know she backed Bill back in the day but it doesn't surprise me. I was worried she'd feel sorry for Bernie and endorse him but she's a sharp cookie and picked a winner. And listening to Bill talk about Hillary's plans for California makes me very glad he's in the mix!

(15,720 posts)TBH I'm surprised they're not doing more publicity but they're scheduling a lot of appearances this week at local HQ and this was actually a GOTV pep talk for campaign volunteers.

(15,720 posts)If I was a little quicker you'd see Bill kissing that beautiful kid and her eyes lighting up! Lots of people caught that moment but I'm still getting used to the whole iPhone thing LOL. You wouldn't know Bill was on his third event of the day because he gave us a stemwinder worthy of his 1988 Dem keynote address but better LOL! Tireless man! and still sharp as a tack!

(15,720 posts)I saw him back in 1992. The crowd was a little bigger and he was a little stouter but he's still the same ramblin' Bill who will talk shop all day if he has a good audience. And apart from a few cell phones beeping he did! I really get the feeling Tuesday's going to be a good day for Hillary in California.

(15,720 posts)A real bridge between past and future and this time I think we're going to cross it! Bill is ready to rock and roll and that means we're in for 8 years of growing the economy Clinton-style aka Clintonomics!

(15,720 posts)and managed to convey that Hillary is planning to fix a few loose ends without a single HINT of criticism. He started by saying the President painted a beautiful picture in his last state of the economy address, and ticked off a few of the positive indicators (Bill's a whiz at this of course) and then said, and it's all true! And we all laughed and applauded. Then he said, but a lot of people feel like they're not in that picture and then he got down to the policies which incidentally leave Sanders' promises in the dust, particularly her college loan program which has all sorts of angles that Sanders would never think of. There's also a small business loan program for inner city entrepreneurs, several education programs including skills training programs, a Peace-Corps like service corps, prison reform, plans to deal with the Middle East, renewable energy, you name it.
I think things were in such bad shape in 2008 that Bill really didn't have much stomach for getting back into the game, but Obama really has performed miracles and now that things are basically in good shape he's ready to help Hill get the job done. I haven't seen him this fired up since 1994, seriously!

(306,162 posts)and the incoming are such great friends and colleagues.
There has to be some kind of historic happening going on there, too.
Wonderful summary you gave us of Bill's speech today.. I'm so glad he's Fired UP.. I bet Obama wants them to carry that on!
I love all of them for appreciating what the other has to offer and what they've accomplished in service for our country. They know the work that's involved and they have the plans to do it.
