Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton in a tight race in California as the campaign batters her Popularity
Hillary Clintons popularity has slumped in California under an unrelenting challenge from Bernie Sanders, who has succeeded in breaching the demographic wall Clinton had counted on to protect her in the states presidential primary, a new USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll has found.
As he has done across the country this primary season, Sanders commands the support of younger voters by huge margins in advance of Tuesdays primary even among Latinos and Asians, voter groups that Clinton easily won when she ran eight years ago. Many of his backers come from a large pool of voters who have registered for the first time in the weeks before the election.

The Vermont senator has battled Clinton to a draw among all voters eligible for the Democratic primary, with 44% siding with him to 43% for Clinton. That represented a nine-point swing from a USC/Los Angeles Times poll in March, in which Clinton led handily.

Among those likely voters not supporting Clinton, the reasons differed by gender. Women were more likely to say she was not genuine, while men most often cited scandal.

Good for Bernie for staying until the convention! Every vote Counts! Count Every Vote
This poll is undoubtedly why Clinton cancelled her NJ campaign stops and has added more California campaign stops in her schedule.
ETA to show why the Times says her campaign is battered

(7,318 posts)as a life-long Democrat.
I recently left the party after the anti-democratic shenanigans her campaign pulled in Nevada: She engineered an UNPRECEDENTED nullification of all votes cast at all NV County Democratic Conventions statewide.
UNPRECDENTED - as in No Democratic State Party nationwide has ever done that before.

(30,230 posts)She'll be a good president. Her speech today on foreign policy and the way she attacked Trump, is more proof of the difference between a thoughtful person who is smart and knowledgeable, and a buffoon.

(7,318 posts)She is responsible for every vote she gets, and every vote she doesn't.
My efforts go elsewhere.
My concerns are not hers, so my concerns are not of her.

(68,868 posts)funny that you're mostly indifferent to that happening
if she loses, we also get a mentally unstable fascist as president

(7,318 posts)That was their main take away, apparently, from the poll. I'm not there on the ground, but I'll take their word for it.

(7,318 posts)any harder to support her, I'm sure they would have.
Not familiar with the specific author, though.

(15,502 posts)I knew he was doing it but I was alarmed when I heard it first hand. No can say he hasn't been running a negative campaign from the start, and he doesn't have to name anyone to bash them, though he does name Secretary Clinton. And the Democratic party. And the DNC. And Democrats. So yes, he's having an effect. It's like he's on a mission of vengeance and though he'll be gone in a week the effect of his tour is going to linger until November and beyond.
