I was up in Ohio canvassing doing everything I could to get as many Kerry voters out to the polls. Losing that election hurt, although it didn't take long to feel vindicated after Bush's popularity plummeted in 2005 and never recovered.

but Kerry probably would have won without the shenanigans: voter suppression, inadequate voting machines in democratic counties, funny electronic machines.

So, I would claim that Kerry won.

If he would have won the pop vote by 3,000,000 he would have had the moral legitimacy to challenge one state's electoral results.

the legitimacy he would have had as winner had the repigs not had dirty tricks; regardless of the popular vote. Therefore, comparing the quoted poll to today's poll does not seem to assuage my concerns.

Also, I am one of those "conspiracy" theorists who find it odd that exit polls differed from the results so dramatically, placing into question the actual popular vote tally.

Unadjusted exit polls showed Dukakis beating Bush. I don't think anybody thinks Dukakis was robbed.

significant confusion among those in the know about the discrepancy during 2004. I never heard about any concerns in 1988.
