2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumROTFLMFAO At Chuck Todd
If Romney flips five states he's currently behind in he can win the election.
That's like saying if the Charlotte Bob Cats had LeBron James. Chris Bosh, Ray Allen, and Dwyane Wade they would be legitimate NBA title contenders.

(6,982 posts)"Mitt Romney was known to be able to execute the perfect onside kick. A couple of diplomatic posts and a decent cabinet position could inspire the refs to look the other way. Romney could then call his triple-kick-cover sending extra defenders to line up off-side and trip the receiving team blockers. Works every time."

(454 posts)Something tells me that when Obama wins, the Chuckie types will argue that this is no real victory for Obama, since the Dems should be very worried about 2014 and this hands Christie the presidency on a silver platter. blah blah blah blah

(454 posts)when a pundit gives his opinion on TV you're supposed to come away a little more informed, and a little smarter than you were before you watched him, or her. But Chuck's brand of analysis adds little. It's like he just says anything to fill air time. Gone forever are giants like Cronkite, Sevareid, Ed Murrow.

Sam Wang @ the Princeton Election Consortium actually projected 2008 within 1 EV.
And if I remember correctly Intrade nailed it right on the money in 2008.

(15 posts)Matthew Dowd told ABC News that every time "you feel a losing campaign, these three things happen":
"The first thing happens is, don't believe -- the public polls are wrong. That's the first sign of a campaign that's about to lose.
The second thing, we're going to change the nature of the electorate, and you're not seeing it reflected in the polls.
And the third thing is, the only poll that counts is Election Day. When you hear those things, you know you're about to lose."
I think we've been hearing this for a week or so, what do you think?

(87 posts)Old Arab saying...I guess we just need to look at the silver lining. If they keep saying its close it will motivate voters to go to the polls...even though if they were reporting accurately it would deflate their base. On an aside I can't wait for this to be over this has been the most anxiety I have felt in a long time. If Obama wins by the smallest of margins does he get to claim a "mandate" the way twinky did in 04?

(15 posts)I imagine the little voice in his ear-piece probably tells him to keep it more in the middle. You know, the ratings are really what's important to these media companies. If they told us the truth we'd probably quit watching.
