2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumA sincere belief that Democratic unity will pervail in the end
A giant step in that direction will be when supporters of both campaigns (myself included) tone it down. I have voted for the lessor of two evils in most elections since 1980. I have issues with the Clinton's money interests and sense of entitlement. On the other hand, I can see why Clinton supporters believe that Sanders is promising young people things he will never be able to deliver on.
Many times nasty primary fights are resolved enough to see victory in November. Ask yourself if you would like to see Supreme Court Justice Ted Cruz or Secretary of Transportation Chris Christie? (Think of all the bridges he could close!)
As the Rolling Stones said,"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes; you get what you need."
I will tone down my sometimes nasty retotic and hope othets will begon to do the same.

(11,495 posts)In the long run some Democrats may sit this one out, but the vast majority, no matter who they supported in the primaries, will get out and do the right thing to make sure we do not have a president "Trump" running this country. Contrary to what gets posted here on DU, people know that there is a huge difference between Clinton and Trump, and anyone in their right mind knows how dangerous Trump would be. A lot of those who "claim" to be supporters of Berne's, but also claim the will NOT vote for Clinton, are not now, nor have they ever voted for a Democrat. They are here to divide, not unite.

(218 posts)The Repubs are doing it. And their divisions are much greater. Their candidate is a nightmare who will haunt their party for decades, yet there they go.....lining up behind him, in lock-step. As he destroys relationships with Britain, Japan, American Women, etc...
We have a much smaller bridge to gap. Bernie has *so much* to contribute and I believe Hillary will consult with him and find out where he wishes to go in the future: stay in Senate or cabinet or Czar?

(14,255 posts)Sorry, but - bwahahahahaha! No, Hillary has Bill to finish off the middle class, and Wall Streeters to scoop up what money remains and PNAC enthusiasts to ensure the United States is perpetually in the killing business. And - it is a business.

I see that today is Aspiring Bellwethers Declaring Support for Hillary and Hoping Others Will Follow Day.
Again.
Honestly, now - wouldn't this stuff be better pushed after the convention?
Hillary has absolutely nothing I need. Quite the opposite, in fact.

(5,761 posts)and this election is very different.
People for once have someone who they really agree with and is the best thing going since FDR. People are downright angry in this country on both sides and in an age of outsiders, when congressional approval ratings are at historic lows, the last thing people want in a GE is to vote for candidate who screams establishment.
No, sorry, it's already begun and it's gone as far as actually starting a third party all together which backs Bernie's vision and is based on it. That is something we've never really seen before.
Millions won't vote for the lady who voted for a border fence, Iraq, has problems with dirty money and can't even support liberal ideals like universal health care and a living wage.
Nawww, the establishment built this.
