The New Normal ad?

Does this freaking ad actually have any appeal for anyone? What a depressing vision. Pretty much says, "Our country sucks. Vote Romney so we'll ... Suck less? Maybe?"

I dunno. Maybe this works on depressed voters. It just seems like such a turnoff to me at this stage of the election. All fear. All hate. No optimism. I hope we're better than that ad.

in this election cycle for Ron Paul.

One of the most long-standing NORML activists I know (and have known for about a decade, from around Green Party and Democracy for America activities) was NOT welcome amongst the cannabis activists who showed up around our Occupy. That pseudo-NORML bunch also pressured out a VERY fine and VERY effective freelance HEMP activist in our midst.

If you're talking about NORML they've been functioning out of Libertarian climes, for at least a year that I know of, as a front for Ron Paul, which is their highest priority, even over effective collaborative cannabis activism. I saw this up close and personal when the long-standing NORML representative here locally was trashed by the Occupy in favor of a newer well-to-do NORML representative, living on his parent's dime complete with health-care, and living in one of our wealthier bed-room communities and who gave our Occupy quite a bit of overwhelming logistical trouble on the practical tasks of occupying, and who hung around a bit to do some token-sharing from his very good connections, then went home to his nice apartment whenever he wanted to, only to return to fuck-up anyone who wasn't a Libertarian or an Anarchist in our midst, all of which basically fucked us up pretty bad and exposed the group to some very destructive internal, non-lateral empowerment, fascist dynamics.

The result was lots of stealing, attracting some of the worst of the street people, victimization of anyone amongst that group, and of the disadvantaged, who couldn't/didn't figure out what was going on and got VERY used and thrown away by internal Libertarian relationships. I'm still very sad about what happened to some people who actually were trying to be part of a positive change in things.
