That's quite surprising and definitely not very good given it was expected to fall even more.

...When unemployment rate falls, it's "only because people left the job market". When it rises, it's "OBAMA's FAULT!"

feel confident about the prospect of a job and reenter the market. Look at the number of jobs created (171,000+) to determine what is happening. The job market is rebounding big. IF this number had been 50,000 or 75,000, and the unemployment rate had gone to 7.7, it would indicate that the economy was stalling and people were discouraged from looking and driving the rate down. Look for the number to go down over time--but the big take away is the number of new jobs.

But how will the media spin this? "unemployment number slightly rises", or "large job gains"? I think that's what will affect the impact of this release the most.

Wish the rate would have went down a tenth or stayed the same, but 171,000 jobs is great!

Thought this wasn't going to be released until 9:30?

For an average of 6. That is a small net positive. What if unemployment ticked back up to 8.0%?

Symbolically, that's a high number. And a actually high number too...

of the report are GOOD.

Unfortunately though the 7.9 is whats gonna get played and its gona get played as an uptick.

Good thing is though its a Friday, and most people are "electioned out" and may not notice.
