Hillary only won

because of the pragmatism of the African American voter. I think if the whore media had not included the Super Delegate count from the beginning, it would have changed the optics of the race, and more pragmatic voters might have voted for Sanders. Barack Obama didn't really start to get support from the AA community until after he won Iowa, and came close in New Hampshire. Check out this CNN article from January, 2008.

But, yeah: blocs with more skin in the game do seem to support Clinton more than they do Sanders.

and Hillary eroded with female voters:

The boost came from female voters, a longtime Clinton stronghold. The former secretary of state’s support among women dropped by 11 points, while Sanders’ showing jumped by 9 points.

if he hadn't been backed by Wall Street. Remember, he had the most support from Wall Street in 08. It was not Hillary or McCain. They bet on Obama. He was viewed as a viable candidate mainly because he had the backing of media establishment.
I thought the joke he made at the WHCD last year was pretty telling, that he needed to raise a lot of money to make himself likable, with his middle-name "Hussein."

building on the foundations of what we already have, and setting the stage for more progressive advancement in the future.

This vs. tossing at all away & starting from scratch - with massive GOP opposition. The GOP would be happy to help Sanders & his ilk get rid of all the progressive accomplishments of the Clinton and Obama administrations, but replacing them with something "better", not so much.

Political pragmatism implies grounds for depending on one's choice to be reliable. Such confidence in Clinton is spectacularly misplaced, given her record.
