Just going by memory, I thought onomatopoeia was when a spoken word sounded like what it described. (e.g: beep, quack, tick-tock)

Assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds, I think.

A COMPETENCE bounce. Obama should see a bounce because he has reminded people that he is amazingly competent and a great leader. The bounce is not about a natural disaster but about one man's response to that disaster.
