President Obama praises Sanders on campaign finance

During a news conference at the White House on Thursday, President Barack Obama praised Bernie Sanders’ grassroots-funded campaign.

The president told journalists that Sanders’ fundraising efforts could help restore voters’ faith in the democratic system.

“You’ve got to give Bernie Sanders, for example, credit — building off some of the work I did; I, in turn, built off the work that Howard Dean did — for smaller donations, grassroots donors, to build up small contributions to allow candidates to be competitive,” President Obama said.

Obama also signalled that more should be done to fix campaign finance, saying it’s not enough for candidates like Sanders to voluntarily rely on small donations.

“I am a strong believer in finding ways in which we can make the financing of campaigns more democratic,” he said.

2. Yes, but Sanders spent on his campaign the money I sent him to spend on his campaign.

And, for some reason that I don't understand AT ALL, that apparently makes him an awful person, campaign money wise.

3. I agree

Dean started it, at least for me.

Obama continued.

Bernie has got the most from me to date.

4. OH NO OBAMA! Open the source code on voting machines to 'restore' my faith in democracy.

And, why is someone under an FBI investigation running? Why is your DOJ sitting back?????? Why are the AMSCAM agents being ignored? Faith restored? You're certainly full of yourself Obama!

By grassroots funding, to neuter corporate funding? Well, the voting machines took care of that, didn't it?

If my faith were near restored, a candidate who understood removing Glass Steagall hurt MILLIONS AND HELPED ON THE BANKS! A candidate who was honest about knowing that chemicals used in fracking are NOT ALLOWED TO BE RELEASED! On and on.

When so many voters don't want to vote for Hillary, how is it that faith is restored? We gave the money, the voting machines took care of the rest.
No faith here....and no vote for the dem nominee if it's Hillary.

5. Wait I thought President Obama and Senator Sanders hated each other?

That's what I've been reading here.
