2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe GOP is starting to wave the flag...
Chris Christie, borderline tea-bagger said this minutes ago...
I thank the president for his telephone call and inquiring about how things are going here and I assured him that things were going well so far. He advised me to call him at any time that things were not going well, he said at a fire house backed with emergency personnel, residents and press.
I appreciated the presidents outreach today in making sure that we know hes watching this and is concerned about the health and welfare and safety of the people of the state of New Jersey, he said.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!! ROMNEY HEADQUARTERS AND FOX NEWS IN DANGER ALERT ZONE!!!

(6,336 posts)1) He ran against Corzine, who should have had the sense to step aside and let someone run against him in the primary, who would have in turn won the general.
2) Democrats stayed home and people started drinking the tea.

(1,828 posts)I can't believe Christie got that out. Wonder if we'll get any nice words from GOP govs in Pa. or Va.? Hmmm. Hope they have to suck up to President Obama all week for funds! (Well, my top hope is that the storm just fizzles or goes away, but it's not looking likely. My Md. governor doesn't have to grovel, but those idiots in Pa. and Va. should!)

(18,619 posts)..The governor can be used as a flotation device.
Sorry...I've had that in me all day since I spoke to my republican cousin in Point Pleasant, and I had to get it out.

He can go on a diet and cause comedy writers across the country mental block.
Admittedly, if there are fatalities it would be a joke in bad taste, but be ready to write David Letterman and Bill Maher nasty letters about wheelchairs next week just in case.
Besides, my physique has more in common with Christie than you know and I can take a joke.

(8,945 posts)but no tonly reason I wrote what I wrote. At that point I decided that no matter what else he does and says (and God knows he has been horrible often enough) he will always deserve at least a modicum of respect in my book.

(2,795 posts)He probably could care less whether Romney wins or loses - probably leaning more towards lose so he can make a run for it in 2016.
But I think the good governor for his kind words to our pretty kind and genuine president

(2,795 posts)If willard loses Christie is poised for 2016. So I don't think Christie is too worried about the things he says and it's impact on Romney.

(76 posts)Actually, our horrible, useless, ultra-right wing twit governor in PA praised the President too. They are all off script or telling Mitt, "I'm sorry pal, you're on your own!"

Of course, I think Christie is thinking of his own political future. He doesn't want to bash Obama now, because if Romney loses, it could come back to bit Christie in the ass if he decides to run in 2016.

I know the idiot in TX complained about the federal $ for the fires after they slashed their firefighting budge.

(4,340 posts)This guy is all over the map, but at least he can be humble in the face of such crisis. I wish him, his state, and all other states affected by Sandy the best.

(37,648 posts)It's just common sense in a time of approaching trouble with the hurricane. They're both taking care of business.
Hmmmm....this may mean Christie has his eye on a run for the Presidency. "I work with the other side."

(4,310 posts)years, Obama has to my knowledge handled them all extremely well.
The BP disaster, droughts, fires, hurricanes, what am i forgetting?
Another area of responsibility he never gets credit for. I am so
proud of the job he has done. People take alot for granted.
Jennicut
(25,415 posts)by Sandy. And it looks bad for all of us on the shore in NJ, NY and CT.
But he is not really a teabagger.
He did veto a gay marriage bill but most Repubs would do that. He is pro life but believes in exceptions for rape, incest, the life of the mother. That is actually to the left of many teabaggers. And he says humans contribute to climate change. He placed a moratorium on coal plants in Jersey in favor of solar and wind. He opposes off shore drilling off the coast of Jersey. He supports gun control and immigration reform. I would say not a teabagger. Typical northeastern Republican in a more Dem leaning state.
