Howard Dean: ['I'm getting all these messages and tweets'] It's not helpful

First off, they are NOT from Bernie, which he also said.
Second, why repeat this attack on MSM? Why drive the wedge further?

So ya, Howard, it is not helpful to the party that you continue to remark on 'attacks' towards you from Bernie supporters.

Who is getting personal here?

5. Must disagree. It is important to let your representatives know how you feel. That is democracy

It is hardly coercion.

16. What elected office does he currently hold?

He represents nobody but himself nowadays. He is not beholden to any voters. That's not the problem with this particular SD, though.

However, he is a great example of what is wrong with the superdelegate system. His vote counts significantly more - 1000s of times more - than the average voter.

23. Elected? None .. that's the point, an unelected superdelegate

At the very least the Democratic Party should remove the word "Democratic" from its title.

19. Of course it's coercion. He is entitled to his vote and he is being harassed to change it.

Our party, our rules.
Don't like it, work to change it, or move on, but in this election, his vote is his own, and he owes no one an explanation.

in response to anything but the approved course of action.

29. Not necessarily - it depends on the source of your definition:

coerce:

2 : to compel to an act or choice <was coerced into agreeing>

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/coerce

One might feel "compelled" upon hearing a convincing argument: I felt compelled to change my vote.

Or - I felt compelled because they guilt-tripped me...

37. In both your examples, that is PERSUASION, not COERCION.

Words matter, and the two things have different meanings.

38. You made the claim that:

Coercion is literally threatening physical violence

The definition I provided seems to indicate that what you stated - as fact - is not necessarily true:

2 : to compel to an act or choice <was coerced into agreeing>
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/coerce

Where is the violence?

It's a reality. People don't want him being a mouthpiece or SD and feel the need to voice their concerns. He's being a bit of a baby. If you can't stand the heat...

When your feelings are hurt, making that public is going to elicit all sorts of shite from both sides. But, objectively, there is nothing here to talk about, yet he continues. So sad.

if you cannot handle the supporters of a candidate that agrees with your candidate on 90% of the issues....

how the hell are you going to deal with Trump supporters who actually follow up on their demands & agree with you on NOTHING??

It makes you look weak & incompetent!!

And if you follow it up with "Well Bernieeee and his supporters are hurting Hillary, they need to stop it" and you don't think someone from the Trump campaign is reading your tweets and op-eds, hahaha. I have a bridge to sell you.

Grow a spine ffs!!

36. Howard Dean is a Lobbyist

He is now being contacted by by people using the art of lobbying.

Lobbying (also lobby) is the act of attempting to influence decisions made by officials in a government, most often legislators or members of regulatory agencies.

Not sure if he sees the irony.
