Pope Suggests Critics of Sanders Meeting 'See a Psychiatrist'

http://www.haaretz.com/world-news/u-s-election-2016/1.714722?utm_source=dlvr.it

"When I came down, I greeted him, I shook his hand and nothing more. This is called good manners and it is not getting involved in politics," the pope told reporters in answer to a question aboard the plane returning from the Greek island of Lesbos, where he visited a refugee camp..
"If anyone thinks that greeting someone is getting involved in politics, I recommend that he look for a psychiatrist," he said, laughing.

Man, that damn BernieBro Pope set the record straight for all you envious Hillarians!

Sat Apr 16, 2016, 07:19 PM
Apr 2016

The obsessive spin, freaking out and hand wringing from Clinton and her mouthpieces--has been a fucking embarrassment on the world's stage.

Their desperate lies and behavior have become part of the Bernie's Pope story. They were a continuous background chorus of crazy. Magnified by the media, their middle-school bullying is an embarrassment. They repeatedly made much ado over nothing and whipped up controversy that was nothing but debunked Clinton-supporter talking points.

Bernie said after his meeting with the Pope that this was not a political meeting or an endorsement. The Pope said the same thing and went further to say that if you do politicize this, you need a shrink!

Jesus! I don't know how much clearer it gets. The Pope basically called out the crazy chorus and told them to get professional help.

I, for one, am embarrassed at how our country has come off! Clinton supporters--drunk on their own obsession to ruin this trip for Bernie--have behaved like vacuous sorority girls on the world's stage--for everyone to see.

They are quintissential toxic people and they'll never stop.

Not one of your strong suits, unfortunately. The pope was gently rebutting Sander's version of events. Sanders tried to make it political by announcing that he had "met" with the pope. The pope was then forced to take time out of his busy schedule to set the record straight and make it clear that he was cordial with Sanders despite being ambushed. How embarrassing for Sanders!

You have suggested that he said

"What else could I do? He was right there. I had no choice but to greet him

Here is what the Pope said,

"When I came down, I greeted him, I shook his hand and nothing more. This is called good manners and it is not getting involved in politics,"
"If anyone thinks that greeting someone is getting involved in politics, I recommend that he look for a psychiatrist"

I suppose the Pope could have taken a quick right turn and avoided him, but that would be a bit tacky. I gather Sanders was an eager beaver waiting there with a few others. Maybe Sanders is thinking of becoming a Catholic, because he said the trip wasn't political, and what an awfully odd time for a Jew to go to the Vatican.

From what I can see, the Pope has no interest in Kim Davis 2.0 and got outta dodge with a nice regret note to Sorondo and a happenstance meeting in the hallway. And I'm glad for this because we should not be supporting candidates who seek their endorsements from foreign nations or, for that fact, religious institutions and the Vatican represents both. This had the opportunity to set a dangerous precedent. I say "had" because Bernie clearly missed the mark on this and it will make his impending loss in New York that much more a thing to savor.
