Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton has friends in high places, and shell draw on them this weekend for a fundraising swing through California with George Clooney.
The movie star and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, will accompany Clinton at a pair of high-dollar private events to raise money for the Hillary Victory Fund.
The first, tonight at the Bay Area home of venture capitalist Shervin Pishevar, will require couples to contribute or raise more than $353,000 for a spot at the main table with Clinton and the Clooneys.
They will reunite tomorrow at Chez Clooney in Los Angeles for a dinner that starts at $33,400 per person, including a photo with Clinton.

While at Menlo, Pishevar led the series B in car-hailing service Uber Technologies and made a personal investment in February 2013, also becoming a strategic advisor to the company. He also led its investment in Machine Zone, which has become one of the largest mobile gaming companies in the world

(27,794 posts)You can keep saying it's not, but it actually is and they've donated quite a bit to the state parties and to the DNC.
Maybe you are thinking of Hillary for America.

Where is the evidence that money from this committee has been disbursed to other candidates?

(30,439 posts)In addition to Hillary for America, which is Clintons main campaign committee, the Hillary Victory Fund also includes the Democratic National Committee and 32 state party committees.

Hillary's campaign can only accept a maximum of $2,700 for the primary and the general from each individual.
But the Hillary Victory Fund is a joint venture the DNC and 32 state party committees and they can accept maximum donations which go to down-ballot democrats.

(16,631 posts)Counterpunch explains:
In August 2015, at the Democratic Party convention in Minneapolis, 33 democratic state parties made deals with the Hillary Clinton campaign and a joint fundraising entity called the Hillary Victory Fund. The deal allowed many of her core billionaire and inner circle individual donors to run the maximum amounts of money allowed through those state parties to the Hillary Victory Fund in New York and the DNC in Washington.
No one had cast a single vote yet in the Democratic primaries.....

(13,889 posts)There's nothing dodgy about thinking you're going to win and setting up a fund that funnels money to down-ticket races. There's no legal or ethical rule that says we have to pick the nominee before s/he can raise any money for other races. Rather it shows that Clinton understands the Congressional races are just as important as the Presidential one and that she was putting the financial infrastructure in place to support both early. That's called being organized and having a plan, something that seems foreign to Sanders supporters who keep telling me Bernie doesn't need a plan because he'll be able to call on 'experts' to help him after he's elected.
How much has Bernie Sanders raised for down-ticket races?

(5,208 posts)Cost of those two seats. Couple that with the fact that on the same day, Bernie flew to the Vatican to speak on inequality, should make it clear who really cares for average Americans.
