2016 Postmortem

I don't know what is going on with Brian Williams. I used to like him, but it seems to me that he is out to *get* the President with his attitude and questions.
Then, the story goes on to say that Romney is speaking to huge, enthusiastic crowds, and that the race is very tight, and they make a point of showing him speaking with the people directly behind him holding signs that say, "Democrats for Romney."
I know the mainstream media has it in the tank for Romney the Wonder Pup, but I am getting SO sick of the unfair, biased media coverage. Election night can't come soon enough.
I guess I just need to stop watching TV.
Rant over. Thanks for listening.

(1,277 posts)I think most probably sense the race is moving toward our side and want to milk it while they can. In a weeks time it will likely be far more difficult to do so.

(6,960 posts)It sucks and has for years. Remember, it is owned by GE whose former CEO was Jack 'call it for Bush in 2000" Welch.
It is pure garbage, so toss it aside. Your blood pressure and cortisol levels will thank you!

(1,123 posts)There was a piece in Vanity Fair about him back in 2005 in which he gushed about Rush; he said he listened every day. He is awful.

(234 posts)are extra sensitive. I agree there's a bias, and I get that jittery feeling in my stomach when I hear that BS too, but that's why we are here on DU. We're biased too in our own way, but what I see here is people with hopes but not agendas trying to be realistic. I'm tired of them manufacturing their own news, heck with reality. For me, TV is no longer for news, it's strictly entertainment. There are numerous more reputable sources out there. If you have any doubt about their need to stir the pot, just watch during sweeps when local news channels try to scare the heck out of you about something for 10 minutes (your car battery could explode in your face and burn your eyes out! Just look at these unfortunate yokels!) and the weakass solution to the terrible problem (wear goggles when you open the hood of your car?) is reduced two 2 sentences of banter between the feature reporter and the news anchor.

(3,072 posts)I remember watching MsNBC's coverage of election night in 2008. Even then they were saying that race was going to go down to the wire. Obama ended up winning in a landslide about 90 minutes later. Everyone except Keith Olbermann kept saying that there had been a late McCain surge and that anything could happen. Total bullshit.

(2,795 posts)I have felt the same way about the media this election. ABC evening news (Diane Sawyer) one night led with the Gallup poll giving Romney a big lead and never even mentioned the ABC poll that had also come out that day giving Obama a lead. Then the day after the last debate they said that it was a tie without even mentioning that all the debate polls and media pundits decisively gave Obama the win.
At least tonight ABC featured the Mourdock rape comments and Romneys endorsement of him as a major leading story.

(12,806 posts)... (about how Obama needs to go) to illustrate a brief story about how both candidates are pounding the pavement this week. They added something to the effect of, "President Obama is also out on the campaign trail." Not sound clips or anything. I thought it.... odd.

they see their way of life & their profession, being eroded & overcome - by the internet, technology, youth and - always - the onrush of change.
instead of wading into it, embracing it & enjoying it, they are terrified; and fighting like cornered rats, each in his own fashion, to stave off the inevitable.
Just 'cos Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert had him up on a couple of shows & made his gravitas a standing joke - Brian Williams has deluded himself into thinking he's a hip Cronkite for today, who knows what's good for the country; when all he is, is a hack with an expensive wardrobe, a pleasant manner & an unexceptional intellect.

(4,149 posts)I can barely even stand to have MSNBC on, and THEY aren't even bad. As far as the major networks are concerned, forget about it. I'll never forget the free pass GWB got after having stolen the election--not one fucking PEEP of protest from the GD MSM. . . I'll NEVER forget that.
