(28,443 posts)Where'd you get the number from? I can't find any crowd estimate in local news sources. But I sure would love a link to post on the "Romney & Ryan fill Red Rocks" (10k seating capacity) news reports. A whole hellova lot easier to get 10k to RR with both candidates on an evening than 16k to City Park just to see the President in the middle of an afternoon.

(19,458 posts)they couldn't give away enough tickets to their usual list, so they opened it up to social media to give the tickets away. it was not about Romney... it was a free concert.

(279 posts)16000 strong in Denver....

(3,014 posts)We regularly get it to 9600 for shows.
And I agree with your assessment.
And why the fuck is Romney using Red Rocks? Built by the government. Owned by the government. Staffed by IATSE Local 7. The place is everything the fucktard rails against.

(7,318 posts)I'd say there were about 15,000 people. They had a great band "Soul X" that played during the 2 hrs we waited for the speakers.
Obama bounded up the stairs and onto the stage at about 3 pm and, while it was a shorter speech than in Florida, it was still inspiring. About 1/4 of the crowd stretched back behind the lights out of camera view in the photos. I see a dot in one of the pictures that I think is me. I think these photos were taken in the VIP section. I wasn't a VIP and didn't have a coveted red ticket but was close enough to get good video of him coming up the stairs to the podium.

Obama will be back soon - probably going to come by on the last few days.
I attended a rally a week before the election in '08 - and it was HUGE - and it was at Civic Center Park.

(23 posts)Real diversity here. Not only diversity of eye color like at the RNC.
I just hope they have some snipers. Every time the President goes out to one of these rallies I get a little paranoid.

(2,012 posts)I didn't get down from Boulder because I can't stand that long so I'm happy to see that crowd. They stood a long time in the changing weather (43 today, 74 last night at Red Rocks). CNN broadcasted from City Park but did not show the crowd. Obama looked great in shirtsleeves and backed up by by many you can be sure are 47%ers. Colorado's going to pull this one out just like we did in 08.

(24,135 posts)could hear him, caught glimpse when my husband hoisted me up for about 1 second!
I was just north of the stairs to the platform and directly west of the podium about 10 rows in but unfortunately what had to be the tallest guy in the arena was standing right in front of me most of the time.

(6,551 posts)To go down to City Park and see her president. She'll have to make up 3 exams, but this is a day that she'll never forget.
She texted us by noon and sent a pic of all kinds of Obama buttons that she got there. Seems that O buttons are quite the thing.

(204 posts)When I was a kid remember seeing old Kennedy, Humphrey, McGovern, and Carter buttons in my dad's top dresser drawer. Your daughter will have those buttons for the rest of her life, to remember her day of seeing this great president! Fantastic!

(12,336 posts)And we had around 4000 in attendance here. It was a fairly small area and it was 10:00 AM when he spoke, so the number is quite remarkable.
Davenport to Denver to Los Angeles to Nevada to Chicago in 48 hours. Whew! What a schedule!

(74 posts)last night Romney and Ryan had a show rally and drew 10,000 plus and that was with a free show and it was historic Red Rocks. The president gets 16,000 , during the day. It was a great time to be had the crowed was huge thankfully the weather held off.

(7,318 posts)when Hickenlooper was speaking. We got lucky all right. A light drizzle started literally as soon as Obama finished his speech. Denver Mayor Hancock had a good speech too!

(2,921 posts)Do we have the official numbers? Originally I estimated 35k to come before the rally hit - the park can hold up to 70-80k easily.
