Lesson for Democrats (Trump edition)

After Obama's been in office for 4 yrs now, why do some of us continue to believe that there's some mysterious tape or record out there that will destroy his candidacy? The right keeps saying they have some SHOCKING information and SOME of us fall for it every time. What does that say about us and what we think of Obama even as we support him?

The last couple of days there have been numerous post about some Obama divorce. That was supposed to be Trump's big surprise! Well, it wasn't. Instead now I'm sure some people believe there was divorce proceedings that never happened because they read it or heard it "somewhere" (like the whitey tape). Unfortunately WE were complicity in spreading misinformation. I expect that from the right, but every time we breathlessly repost their "shocking news" we are being used to spread their lies. How about we wait for confirmation next time before we panick over the next supposed Obama "scandal"? I think he's earned that much from us after all these false alarms.

1. Even back in 2008

Whenever a rumor appeared, a common comment was that if there was something nefarious, that the Clinton campaign would have found it.

Good observation.

2. Thanks for posting. Trumped likes to prey on this nation's worst fears.

Fear No. 1. If there is a black man running the White House and he's not doing the cleanup, he doesn't deserve to be there.

Fear No. 2. If the black man went to an Ivy League school, he was an affirmative action candidate and took a slot which rightfully belonged to some white person. (The truth is, if he were an AA candidate and took the slot of someone with higher test scores, the slot more likely than not belonged to some Asian foreign exchange student).

Fear No. 3. As a black man, he must have done drugs at some time in his life, and probably sold drugs.

Fear No. 4. As a black man, he couldn't possibly be faithful to one woman, and be happily married. He has to have illegitimate children and mistresses out there somewhere.

Fear No. 5. As a black man, who has never been an executive of some Fortune 500 Company, he can't possibly lead our nation out of the worst financial disaster since the Great Depression. After all whoever heard of Black Knight in shining armor. Everyone knows that the Prince in the Fairy Tale is always a handsome, white man, and his Princess is a beautiful white woman, with a tiny waist.

So Trumped knows exactly what he is doing. Thank goodness that the first black President is a man of character and convictions and someone who, in spite of all they did to him, gave us many a moment throughout the past 4 years, that allowed us to forget for a moment that he's wasn't a black man, he was just A MAN.
