The remarkable consistency of the Democratic primary electorate

Last July, The Post and ABC News surveyed Democrats nationally to see how this year's primary contest would shape up. If you re-distribute Joe Biden's second-choice votes to the other candidates, Hillary Clinton led Bernie Sanders by 62 points. That was a far larger lead than she ever enjoyed against Barack Obama in 2008.

Then, slowly but steadily, Sanders ate into Clinton's lead. At the time of the last Post/ABC poll, Clinton's lead had dropped to seven points.
