An eye opening stat relevant to Bernie's Medicare for all healthcare proposal

Again, from This Week with John Oliver (last night's episode):

52% of debt on credit reports (i.e. past due debts) is for medical bills.

We have 29 million people with no healthcare insurance, millions more with premiums and annual deductibles they are unable to afford, and every day people are driven into bankruptcy over medical bills they could never afford to pay.

are because of enormous medical bills. And the vast majority of those declaring bankruptcy because of medical bills, had some sort of coverage. Clearly it's not enough.

Sickening. Truly sickening when you pay high insurance and then get 80k in bills beyond what the insurance covers. Sickening.

Personally have burned through most of our savings and gone deep into the hole over medical bill in just the last year

It's awful the way we bankrupt people over health care costs. Health care is a human right.
