Hillary's subway gaffe is her campaign in a nutshell

Not well planned out, pandering for the press, with no real point or substance, and in the end it backfires. This stunt came off looking so fake. It's just so predictable. It's an attempt by Hillary to try and tell the the people of New York that she is one of them, that she is New York's favorite adopted resident. But everyone knows she doesn't ride the subway, which of course is why she looked awkward trying to do so now. All this disingenuous fluff needs to stop, and that is on both sides. Tell me what you plan to do and how you plan on doing it.

I remember the first time I took the subway in NYC and I was totally confused because of the uptown and downtown thing. I asked if we were going north and the New Yorker looked at me like I was crazy and said he didn't know.

A few more blunders by Hillary and major gaffes by Bill could cause her to drop some states she thought she had locked up.

... the man with his finger on the pulse of New York City, still thinks you need a token to ride the subway.

"What do you mean, ‘How do you ride the subway these days?'" Sanders said. "You get a token and you get on."

Would he try to slide the token through the card slot?

Maybe Hillary can explain all the unique ways she loved New York more than Bernie.

It is of a much smaller magnitude. Why would anyone try to make their candidate seem more authentic by pointing out a failed subway card swipe when their own candidate still believes you use a system that has been gone since 2003? It's really simple. Ask yourself this. How many people do you think have a failed swipe of their card in a day compared to how many people go to the subway on a daily basis and try to buy a token? This is trivial shit, and I am hoping the debate will bring something a little more important like policy and what these candidates bring to the table when it comes to benefiting the people of this country rather than who is better at wrangling a subway.

Bernie was clearly talking in jest. Hillary was trying to get a classic photo op from the press that she could sell to the people of New York. It was a disingenuous attempt to make herself look like the working class New Yorker taking the subway to their job or to their home. Even if Bernie's statement was out of ignorance, he is not the one trying to act like something he is not, which is what Hillary makes a habit out of. Bernie is who he is, and he isn't trying to "act" a certain way to sway public perception.

Sanders fans aren't impressed, but so what?

Not a gaffe because Bernie people disapprove.

Every real New Yorker knows what that's like. Trump doesn't because he never takes the subway, Sanders doesn't because its' been a half-century since he's had any relationship to this city.
