Bonus Quote of the Day
"Anybody who thinks those states are in the bag is half in the bag themselves."
-- Obama adviser David Axelrod, quoted by Greg Sargent, about Mitt Romney locking up North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida.
He also noted, "We have added millions to TV spending in each of these states. We are doubling down."

(4,551 posts)But I posted last night that Jim Messina disagreed with him.
Perhaps it's a head fake or perhaps it really still is in play.
We have no way of knowing until the votes come in.
later retracted his statement.

(83,334 posts)The Obama Team have it covered in 2012. Just like in 2008! They had feet on the ground and were covering all the bases. It was a ground game and they were good at it. Even when my friends were freaking out and saying but but but "they will steal the election". I knew in my heart that it wasn't going to happen.
We can't back off for a moment....but we can move FORWARD!

(350 posts)two true "toss up" states so I don't see how either party could claim they are "in the bag."
Barring any unforeseeable shift (which you cannot bar with two weeks to go), there are only 5 states where the outcome is challenging to predict: Virginia, Colorado, New Hampshire, Iowa, and Florida. Two of these are essentially tied (Virginia, Colorado), we're a bit ahead in two (New Hampshire, Iowa), and the Robme/Lyin' is a bit ahead in one (Florida), but -- unless there is a dramatic last minute shift (possible) or election theft (also possible), we'd win even if we lost all of these 5 close state races.
Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Nevada, and North Carolina are sometimes included within the "toss up" maps, but the leader in these states currently has a better than 2-1 chance at winning (and that's good news in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Nevada, but not so good in North Carolina).

(3,596 posts)No one can think that a single state is "in the bag" for the President or that he is now unstoppable.
Remember that the forces of evil that are opposing the President have very deep pockets, they have the advantage of racism, stupidity, in-breeding, hatred, intolerance, ignorance, hateful preachers, etc.
They can absolutely win this thing and we will have the first non-Christian President in the nation's history. Robme will be inaugurated wearing his magic underwear, doing his secret handshakes, offering his secret name, his tokens and praying to Elohim near the planet Kolob.

(38 posts)I hope you count yourself as intolerant, ignorant and hateful. Your anti-Mormon diatribe isn't welcome on these boards. Your level of intolerance belongs in the bigoted right-wing boards available elsewhere.

(22,645 posts)The more congress members Obama's team can get on his side the better the chances are we can save this country.

(2,711 posts)We go after TX, WV and then TN and SD.
Turn the whole damn map blue. And then break the blue party into two wings . . . the centrist wing and the progressive wing.
