2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumQuestion for Bernie: At what point does a woman finally become qualified to be President?
Apparently a woman can go to a top law school, become a US Senator, be appointed Secretary of State, and still not be qualified to be President of the United States.
So at what point does a woman finally become qualified to be President?

(4,667 posts)Look at Shirley Chisholm. She ran for president and there were no people saying she wasn't qualified. She clearly was. She would have made a good President.

(2,348 posts)... after all, President Obama is guilty of taking corporate money and having a SuperPAC as well. Bernie has never said he isn't qualified to be President, has he?

(37,549 posts)to think this was about gender. In fact, I was sexist to bring that up.
Sound familiar?
How did that work out for Bernie with race and South Carolina?

(7,231 posts)Or maybe we should just praise Nancy Reagan while we are at it? A lot of you may not remember this, but it was very difficult in those days, and Ronals and Nancy really started the national conversation on... I may have mispoken... well actually that distinction doesn't belong to Nancy Reagan, but I lost people too and if you don't vote for me you are a duped, badly-informed, complacent millennial Hell-bound slut who lusts after Berniebros.
Now onward with the coronation! Pray to Saint Hillary of Walmart, our Blessed Lady of Inevitability, and the affluent fruit of her Labour. The power of Debbie commands you.

(7,231 posts)Are you so biased that you believe all women are incapable of faulty judgement?
As a senator, she voted for the Iraq War Resolution
As Secretary of State, she acted in favour of the Libya disaster, ignoring Obama's direct orders o to confer with Blumenthal, while selling fracking across the globe and promoting TPP ("golden standard" , TTIP and the Panama trade deal.
Is that pattern of shortsighted, war and greed promoting judgements not in any way disqualifying?
And while we are on the subject: do you seriously believe that all criticism of Clinton is due to "sexism"? There isn't enough facepalm in the world for that level of cognitive dissonance.

(14,177 posts)When she isn't lying she isn't using weasel words. When she doesn't vote for endless war and start others for business opportunities. When she can be a leader on issues and not just jump on the bandwagon when issues become popular. When she actually fights for people who need a champion and not just for the middle class and the wealthy. When she doesn't vote for laws that will help the wealthy avoid paying taxes. When she turns down speaking gigs from the 1% because it might end up being a conflict of interest. When she doesn't champion fracking world wide.
Or when her name is Elizabeth Warren and she understands the grave danger of banks being able to topple the worlds economy.

(3,040 posts)Is the best candidate to be president. This 'she deserves this' BS really hurts her campaign. A candidate has to show, through their consistency in policies and beliefs, that they are worthy of my vote. This is the same criteria that a male candidate has to go through as well to win my vote. She hasn't shown me -- through her policies -- that she is worth my vote.
Elizabeth Warren on the other hand would and has....

I don't give a damn about Hillary's anatomy.
I wouldn't give a damn if it was a hermaphrodite running.

Elizabeth Warren = Qualified
Hillary Clinton = Unqualified
It has ZERO to do with gender, and everything to do with what they stand for. And I cannot support a candidate aligned with the forces working to destroy me and millions of other working-class and poor Americans.
