2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumEveryone running is qualified to be president
There are only three "qualifications" listed in the Constitution
Natural-born citizen
Resident of the US for 14 years
Over the age of 35.
Leaving aside the Cruz birther question, all of the candidates are "qualified."
The big issue, however, is suitability. For that, you need to look at the person's platform and record. The record is more important, because it shows what the person has done in the past and is likely to do in the future. The platform is just promises and needs to be tempered by past performance.
It's like hiring someone in business. Their resume may promise that they can do great things for your company, but you're better off to see what they've done in the past -- look at real documented achievements and not just be beguiled by super-sounding job titles on the resume.

(6,498 posts)The violence at Donald Trump campaign events is attracting more and more attention as attacks on protesters have escalated over the past month. Yet the Republican frontrunner has steadfastly refused to condemn his supporters actions.
While the clashes have mounted as Trump comes closer to securing the nomination, this violence has been part of his campaign from the beginning. Supporters of the likely GOP nominee have been punching, kicking, choking, and harassing people at his events and in his name since he launched his campaign. Its not surprising when he entered the presidential race by comparing Mexicans to rapists and criminals, and has since insulted women, disparaged Muslims and immigrants, and threatened violence against Black Lives Matter activists and other protesters.
As Trumps hateful rhetoric has increased, so have violent, often racist or xenophobic attacks against people at his campaign events. Some Trump supporters have even taken to using the real estate moguls name as a racist taunt.
Americas Voice has been tracking instances where Donald Trump, his supporters, or his staff harassed or attacked Latinos and immigrants since September. And the Center for American Progress Action Fund has chronicled Trumps hateful rhetoric throughout the 2016 campaign.
Here is a guide to all of the hateful and violent incidents that have occurred at Trump events or in Trumps name across the country:
