(10,122 posts)hold a candle to her in terms in terms of lying, deception and dirty tricks.
I protested Nixon and I think she's got Tricky Dick handily beat. Nearly every speech and certainly every debate, she's lying or deceiving about something. Same routine from 2008 except now, I'm not sure she cares.
Sanders isn't remotely close to her in that regard. Never has been and he never will be.
90% of Wisconsin Democrats Think Sanders Is Honest, Compared to Only 59% Who Think Clinton Is Honest
That ignore Independents and Republicans where those numbers are much worse for Clinton.

Fact remains, Bernie lies worse than Hillary (and he's not even good at it) and when it comes to dirty politics - as he's now engaged in and has been from the start - Hillary can give as good as she gets.
Stay tuned.

(10,122 posts)She's ignoring or disenfranchising all the voters those caucuses represent.
You can guzzle that KoolAid but most of us know better.
When she couldn't win enough delegates against Obama, she pulled this same crap - counting Michigan where Obama name's wasn't on the ballot, etc - ignoring the population of what caucus votes represent. There's something wrong with the woman in the head to rant about silly stuff like that. The contest was for delegates and she lost ... but she's running around with her funny math trying to claim she won .... it was pretty pathetic.
Did it ever occur that the reason Obama and Sanders win these caucuses is because the folks attending them are more informed with what is going on politically. They know all about dishonest Hillary. And that's why Democrats Abroad or the youth heavily support Sanders - because they're on the internet, bypassing the mainstream media the Clintons own and seeing her for what she really is.
That's always been Hillary's problem. The more people find out about her, the less they like her. That's not a good trait for the general election. The GOP will make sure people find out a lot about her - a bunch that's been forgotten - that isn't very nice.
Now that things are getting a little dicey in this primary, she's pulling the same crap. Nothing new here.

(38,465 posts)We're talking massive quantity here, not quality. It's one thing to lie. It's another to do it so frequently and badly that it's automatically presumed to be your SOP, and that you're doing it again. There must be a word beyond cynical to describe my attitude with both your candidate and her following here.
BlueCaliDem
(15,438 posts)You can claim that there's massive quantities of lies perpetrated by Hillary Clinton and her followers, but that's most likely in your mind and how you prefer to read them. You most likely consider her change of opinion on certain issues "lies" when it's just what a leader needs to do - change when the people you want to serve have a change of heart, too. That's what leaders do in a democracy. Being rigid and unwilling to compromise (as Bernie is wont to do) are the characteristics of a tyrant.
But the greatest, biggest, most boldest lie being told to the American people who should know better, is telling them that his campaign is about a political revolution, and then does nothing, nada, zip, zilch to push for that revolution other than enrich oneself to the point of FEC illegalities, making that the grandfather of LIES and his entire campaign a LIE.
Bernie is now getting the vetting that's long overdue (seen the New York Daily cover this morning yet?), and getting the attention his followers believe he hasn't gotten (which is malarkey). I've said it before to Bernie supporters, and I'll say it again: be careful what you wish for.
If Bernie wants to become president for whatever ego-tripping he's caught in, let him run on the Socialist Party or Green Party ticket. He will NOT take my Party down by weakening the brand that President Obama has worked so hard to make strong, and this is exactly why true-blue Democrats across the nation are supporting Hillary Clinton, not him. This is seen in closed primaries where Independents and Republicans can't crossover to cast their vote against the long-time Democrat that Republicans fear the most.

However, allowed to be "married" by a Mayor, or a power-invested civil servant for gays, and lesbians, is right, and good.? "

kristopher
(29,798 posts)First, as demonstrated by PA in 2008, recall the insincerity of Hillary's position on guns.
Second, the reality is that the frustration of hitting the constitutional wall is push us to attempt outlandish measures equivalent to the rightwing attacks on abortion - by that I'm specifically thinking of the push to impose liability on gun related businesses who are engaging in good business practices.
Those types of strategies can't succeed in the long run and seem to me more a form of cynical political manipulation (like PA) than an actual attempt to address the problem.
Finally, we DO have a problem in our culture with not just guns, but violence of all kinds. It's my opinion that Bernie is on the right path to addressing that violence. In support of that let me throw out two rather startling observations that I think are directly linked.
Japan has one of the lowest rates of violence in the world.
In Japan, surveys show that 99% of the people self identify as "middle class".
The stress of economic exploitation is literally causing us to tear our own heart out.
jillan

Everything Bernie supports about gun regs is exactly what President Obama has proposed.

(29,798 posts)There is certainly room to improve personal accountability by getting rid of things like stand-your-ground, improving safety with things like personal ID safety lock systems, and far better screening and training. And those measures will go far in reducing overall homicide, suicide and assault with firearms.
But the crazy stuff like Sandy Hook is at an altogether different level of causation. That's a form of cultural insanity.

(24,411 posts)I heard this. The CNN talking heads said that "Clinton is done with Bernie Sanders" and we were told that they will be going after him now with constant attacks. The talking heads said this was in response to the Clinton campaign watching the Wisconsin returns come in. Ha! I guess they don't like that he's 13 points ahead at the moment.
Dana Bash said (I'm paraphrasing) that they first ignored Sanders, then treated him like a fringe candidate, then things started ramping up--but now they're really going to go after him.
I am dying laughing over here, because the Clinton machine has been throwing so much mud. It's been laughable on DU.
I hope that they really attempt to go into warp overdrive. I really want to see what that looks like, because they've been making complete fools of themselves throwing everything at Sanders. Last week...Bernie was paying Tad Devine too much and enriching him. Oh, the horrors! This week, it's Bernie's tax returns.
Supposedly, they're going to go after him on guns. OMG...seriously. They tried that earlier in the campaign, with no effect. Eric Garner's daughter endorses Bernie. I'm sure he'll use that very powerful ad in NY.
I look forward to Hillary going "more negative" because she's practically unhinged right now. If she wants to go from rabid wolverine mode to crazed Tasmanian Devil on acid, I say BRING IT!.

(59,501 posts)I bet Vermont's favorability rating beats Hillary's. Not to mention, Vermont's crime rate is way below NY's. Care to guess which state is listed here as the safest -- I'll save you a few clicks -- it is Vermont. NY is not in the 10 safest. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2015/01/03/24-7-wall-st-most-dangerous-states/21214169/
In fact, one thing Vermont has been addressing is that the source of lots of illegal drugs in VT is NYC. http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/story/news/local/2016/01/11/del-pozo-lays-out-plan-combat-drug-trafficking/78636480/
Yet, I doubt Senator Sanders, former mayor of Burlington will blame that on NYS or Hillary Clinton.

(13,776 posts)I guess they must really be panicking about Bernie. Because I can do math and even I, a diehard Bernie supporter, can see that he has a very steep hill to climb.
With Trump looking less likely and the RNC behind Cruz (and the general election looking tougher as a result), is Hillary's going negative on Bernie REALLY worth pissing off a huge percentage of his devoted and enthusiastic base?
Really? Because maybe I'm totally wrong about the odds and they truly are worried about him.

(81 posts)I'm a licensed professional engineer. I think I know how to do math. In fact I have more confidence in my ability to do math than I do in that of the talking heads at CNN, Fox, or MSNBC. There are still enough delegates available in this election for Bernie Sanders to win the nomination. There is a substantial possibility that he will do so. I was at the Clark County Democratic Convention in Las Vegas on Saturday. Bernie Sanders won Nevada on Saturday, a state that he is supposed to have already lost in February. The talking heads haven't yet adjusted their delegate count to reflect that inconvenient fact. The reason Bernie won Nevada was because of the enthusiasm of his supporters, and the absence of the same for Hillary's. That was something I witnessed. Though I could not measure or quantify. It was palpable. Don't believe the Big Lie that Bernie cannot win, VOTE.

Entering to her campaign theme Fight Song, Clinton got a thundering reception from the mostly female audience, complete with a Hillary! Hillary! chant. The Democratic frontrunner, who is facing a similar threat to her nomination in Bernie Sanders to the one she succumbed to in 2008 with Barack Obama, began by sharing some of the lessons shes carried into her current campaign. In a shot at Sanders, and perhaps Obama, Clinton said the biggest test for a president is the ability to actually produce results for people, not just talk about it.
But quickly, thanks to co-host Joy Behar, the conversation turned to this issue of sexism in the 2016 race, on both sides of the nomination process. Referencing Trumps Twitter attacks on Heidi Cruz, his campaign managers battery against a reporter, and comments about punishing women for getting abortions, Behar asked, What do you think will happen to women if Trump wins, god forbid?
...
While Clinton played up her rivalry with Trump, she also played down any animosity between herself and Sanders. Im very proud of the campaign that Senator Sanders and I have run, because weve run it on issues compared to insults, she said. Weve really tried to stay on issues and where we stand and what we would do, but we do have contrasts. She pointed to a difference on guns as one example.

What a fraud.
ETA: Notice how she stuck the GUN thing in there -- clearly setting it up to attack him on this.
To repeat: WHAT. A. FRAUD.

(10,650 posts)doing the dirty work. They must have come up with at least a half a dozen pathetic attacks on Bernie just today alone. "He used the word TOKEN! That proves he's a liar!" It would be comical if it wasn't so desperate and asinine.

Back in the day when he used the token and jumped the turnstile.

Meanwhile, Bernie campaigns the honest way. And BTW, he's winning.
Cheaters never prosper! We're looking at you, Hillary Clinton. Birdie Sanders will not be defeated. Oregon was no accident. Hillary is worms meat. Birdies like worms.

(4,229 posts)As a ruthless politician who wants power for no other reason than to have it. That is willing to hurt anybody and say anything to get elected.
I'm not sure it will work for her.
And questioning whether he's a democrat? I mean was Bill Clinton a democrat?? My brother, who voted for Clinton calls him the best Republican president we ever had.

(4,176 posts)to emotion and unfamiliarity with politics, may do the very thing Bernie would abhor, allow the GOP to take the WH.
If Bernie loses the nomination, it is a certainty he will come out in favor of Hillary and in very strong ways, but will the emotional followers listen?

When ...in the last few weeks has she talked about issues? Its been all about negatives toward Bernie. How long now has she been trying to trash Bernie Sanders and has it worked? No..Bernie just keeps on winning and Hillary just stays pissed because she, being the anointed one, can't be crowned.
There is still a Path for Bernie to win this thing..
