Pollers forbidden to call cell phones by Federal law??

Heard this on Diane Rehm's show this morning from one of the pollsters. If that is the case, the "missing cell phone users" issue may be big. Don't know what specific law he was referring to but I think it was the guy from Pew that said this if I am not mistaken.

Yes, but I keep getting them. They're all GOP push-polls and automated - no human contact. HopeHoops Oct 2012 #8

allowed to call.

In NYC, for instance, they can't call any 917 area code number.

It may only be illegal if you are on a Do Not Call list, which I am not.

We get robo-calls from the Arizona republican party office (I recalled the number after the robo-call), and we have been called numerous times by poll takers.

Both of our phones are registered on the "do not call list." I think political calls are exempted by law for calling cel-phones???

We are 30 miles from the nearest land-line phone.
