2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf only HRC had 'just' outed a CIA covert agent, no problem... oh wait, only if she was a Republican
Remember Valerie Plame? Back during the Cheney Regency at a number of individuals who were members of his regime revealed the name of CIA Covert Agent, Valerie Plame. The matter was investigated, but NOBODY was found to be guilty of outing Plame. No, really! Nobody was punished for committing this federal crime and compromising national security.
And the Cheney Regency's White House? They didn't seem too upset about it.
Oh yeah, one person, Scooter Libby was found guilty ...... "of two counts of perjury and one count each of lying to FBI agents and obstructing a federal investigation into whether administration officials illegally disclosed the name of CIA officer Valerie Plame."
Bush commuted his prison sentence "hours after a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected Libby's request to postpone his prison term while he pursued appeals. The panel concluded that his grounds for appeal were unlikely to be strong enough to prevail in higher courts. "
Bush said he thought Libby's sentence was "excessive". I guess he thought zero days behind bars was more appropriate.
But nobody was ever charged with the crime of revealing the identity of a covert CIA agent. And columnist Novak said that two members of the Bush White House staff revealed that information to him.
Joe Wilson, Ms. Plame's husband, felt their was somebody guilty of 'outing' his wife. He said Cheney was guilty of Treason.
