We must smash the Clinton machine: Democratic elites and the media sold out to Hillary this time, bu

http://www.salon.com/2016/03/29/we_must_smash_the_clinton_machine_democratic_elites_and_the_media_sold_out_to_hillary_this_time_but_change_is_coming/

Bill Curry was White House counselor to President Clinton and a two-time Democratic nominee for governor of Connecticut.

With each call to surrender, Sanders just gets stronger. The day the Politico story ran, he swept Democrats Abroad 69 percent to 30 percent. The next day Hillary took Arizona with 58 percent of the vote but Sanders blew her out in Idaho and Utah, polling an unheard-of 79 percent in caucuses that shattered turnout records. On Saturday he’d chalked up three more wins in Alaska, Hawaii and Washington with average margins of 76 perfent. In a Times/CBS poll out this week the man who started the race 60 points down closed the gap to five. In a Bloomberg poll released Saturday he took a 1 point lead.

It raises a question that the elites who rig rules, stifle debate and call on Sanders to withdraw must answer: Who do you think you are? It also raises a question for Washington-based organizations allegedly safeguarding progressive values: What have you done? With all her money, contacts and celebrity and full, albeit covert support of her president and party, Clinton needed every last liberal endorsement to survive Iowa, Nevada, Missouri, Illinois and Massachusetts. How did she get them? If those endorsements don’t strike you as at least counterintuitive, ponder the record:...

...Pundits tout Clinton’s foreign policy cred. As Secretary of State she no doubt took copious notes but she’s wrong on every issue she and Sanders dispute. She says her Iraq war vote was a long time ago and anyway she apologized but her theory of the case resembles Jeb Bush’s. (She blames W. Jeb blames the staff) As Secretary she applied her Iraq War logic to Libya and Syria. She promoted fracking, bugged the office of the U.N. Secretary General and meddled illegally in a Honduran coup. At what point is her experience cancelled out by her inability to learn from it? And does Bernie ever get credit for being right?

She has vast political experience but may be the most gaffe-prone major candidate ever to run for president. Bernie on the other hand rarely misspeaks. Pundits who prize “message discipline” seem not to notice. They used to say independent voters decide elections, but independents abhor Hillary and adore Bernie so they say it less now. Hillary ranks worst of all the candidates on honesty and Bernie best. He has the highest favorability rating of any candidate in the race. Save for Trump, she has the lowest [favorability rating]of any major candidate in the history of polling. To fact driven, free thinking neoliberals none of it matters. Facts that contradict ideology never do.

Guy sees what's wrong and puts it into words:

Neoliberal politics is entirely tactical and tactical thinking is static. Most people oppose Wall Street crooks, Mideast ground wars and cuts to Social Security so they talk endlessly about what the Congress they’ve corrupted won’t pass and what other voters allegedly won’t support. Neoliberals love horse-race politics because it never favors reform. Polls favor known quantities. Endorsements go to people in power; money to those willing to reward the investment. Tacticians rely on marketing tools made to manipulate, not illuminate.

The rest of the essay he shows he knows what to do about it: elect Bernie Sanders President of the United States.

He's been writing one unhinged diatribe after another, none of which seem to be grounded in reality, it will be given exactly the treatment it deserves, no one will pay any attention to it, but the Bernie Supporters that Salon is now catering to. It's irking the majority with it's complete lack of balance or honesty its coverage.

The personal insults and the outright lies are apparent, but if you're only reading anti-Hillary press, then you are unaware that she's the most honest of the candidates running, even Bernie, per the fact checkers. To fact driven, free thinking actual liberals, Billy Curry and his buddies Steve Almond and HA HA Goodman have killed any credibility Salon once had.

well established. She did explain how and why she misremembered, but hey, why not cling to RW smears that don't provide you with anything of substance to hand your beliefs on?

She's more honest than Bernie, per the fact checkers. Perhaps that's because when he's faced with hard questions he runs away?

15. "misremembered"??
Tue Mar 29, 2016, 02:55 PM
Mar 2016

Please tell us all how if you were never under sniper fire that you would later "misremember" this. Can you do that? Also explain how you would "misremember" all this on two or three separate days.

And she even elaborates on her lies to form new lies!!! She said the greeting ceremony was called off -- it clearly WAS NOT. She receives what is likely a greeting card from the little girl (if you watch the video below you can see her getting this card. (The card, by the way, would surely have served as a memento, to prevent any alleged "misremembering problems).

One of Hillary's excuses for all the fabrication was "lack of sleep." Does lack of sleep make you prone to make up crap?? And she did make up crap on two more likely three distinct occasions! Would she have us believe that she was persistently undergoing insomnia at that point in her life?

Here, for your own sake, watch Keith:

When you're through with that, you may want to see this too:

(This latter video only covers lies no later than Dec. 2015 -- for her more recent lies see DU for info).

For example, she also lied about Nancy Reagan being at the forefront in the AIDS discussion. Now, you might argue that Hillary's going prematurely senile and that she meant Alzheimer's discussion. (She "misremembered" to use one of your words).

This argument may have some merit EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT SHE GOES ON TO EMBELLISH HER FALSEHOOD.

“It may be hard for your viewers to remember how difficult it was for people to talk about H.I.V./AIDS back in the 1980s,” Mrs. Clinton, who was attending Mrs. Reagan’s funeral in Simi Valley, Calif., told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell. “And because of both President and Mrs. Reagan – in particular, Mrs. Reagan – we started a national conversation, when before nobody would talk about it. Nobody wanted anything to do with it.

The problem with Mrs. Clinton’s compliment: It was the Reagans who wanted nothing to do with the disease at the time.

This lost me. Hillary's had her share of gaffes, but "most gaffe-prone"? This in the era of Rubio, Christie and Rick Perry? Not to mention Trump who is a walking gaffe. The only difference with him is, he's got no shame and doesn't care when he steps in it.

No way Hillary Clinton is the most gaffe-prone "major" candidate.

"There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it — that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!" -- Mario Savio
