3. either that, or--going out on a limb--Sanders supporters are exaggerating

and interpreting the statement in the most inflammatory way possible in order to gin up outrage.

That's never been known to happen in politics, though.

5. I don't know how that statement is supposed to be anything other than inflammatory.

It's borderline antisemitic and certainly classist.

6. Benenson is from Queens.

and I have to at the suggestion that it was "borderline anti-Semitic"

Good grief. Fake outrage. Completely fake.

I live in Brooklyn, and nobody here is going to take "like a Brooklynite" to be a Jew-baiting classist slur. Try buying a home here if you think it's the wrong side of the tracks.

7. Brooklyn was very different when Bernie was growing up there.

Anyway, I see the situation as similar to this famous West Wing clip:

12. because Brooklynites are laughing at his comment, not acting like he

just put a Klan hood on.

We have a sense of humor about this shit.

And we also know that people from Queens aren't going to pull the snob routine on us. Manhattanites, maybe. People from Queens or the Bronx? Nope.

17. That is a low blow. You should self delete that.

If you have been here anytime recently you would know Brookkyn is very different from the time he id a kid.

Low blow and disgusting.

Shame on you.

Anyway, I reject your attempts to put "shame on me". Nothing I said was offensive.

24. Too cute by half. I know that scene very well and you are not cute at all by posting this.

The comment was not meant as an insult and you knew that. But that did not stop you from portraing him as an anti-semite. Shame on you.

11. Good God!!! Is that what they're trying to say?

Hillary's already carried Brooklyn in two major elections. I lived in NYC during both of those. She beat two hometown boys, remember? 100% correct, no one is going to give a damn about her saying "like a Brooklynite." New Yorkers don't have enough spare time to worry about that kind of crap. LOL!!!!!!

14. Benenson's comment was stupid and he deserves to be made fun of for it.

But, as far as the fake outrage is concerned, they would have us believe that people from Queens are sitting there looking down on others.

Brooklyn has 1000000X the snob appeal Queens does.

It's so deeply stupid.

15. Even though I'm a Sanders supporter

I have to agree with you. I was born in Brooklyn and had ties to Brooklyn for 66 years. I live in NJ and am involved in local politics. When someone tries to get to me I just take them down and remind them that I'm a Brooklyn girl and nobody ought to mess with me.

NJ tough is no where near Brooklyn tough.
