March 25, 2016
Bernie Sanders is far-and-away the reader favorite in the readers poll for the TIME 100 list of the worlds most influential people in 2016.
With 5.1 percent of all votes cast for all 100 candidates,
Sanders has more votes than both Korean pop group Big Bang (the second-place favorite) and President Barack Obama (the third-place candidate) combined. Hillary Clinton is far below Sanders, with just 0.8 percent of readers naming her the most influential person of 2016.
Trump is even lower on the list, with just 0.6 percent of all votes cast.
<snip>
The self-described democratic socialists campaign surpassed expectations as he mounts a strong challenge to Hillary Clinton by turning out young voters with a message of free college, campaign-finance reform and populist economics.
