With a new fundraising record and thousands of passionate fans packing venues across Washington state this weekend, it appears that neither Bernie Sanders nor his supporters are going anywhere as the Democratic primary battle moves westward.
The Sanders campaign announced Sunday that it pulled in a record $43.5 million in February from 1.5 million contributions averaging about $30 apiece, substantially out-raising Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, who received donations totaling $30.1 million last month.
What's more, that momentum does not seem to be slowing down. The campaign predicts "another large fundraising total for March," as nearly a third of contributions so far this month have come from first-time donors.

(45,251 posts)I hope all the negative stuff from media (and, sadly even from posters who support Sanders) after March 15 does not depress donating. Speaking for myself, I've increased the amount of the donations that I make over and above my recurring monthly donation.
I cannot remember getting more joy from money that I spent, except when I spend on very close family. Then again, in my heart, money I donate to the Sanders' campaign is money I am spending on the future of my close blood relatives, as well as all other Americans, of course.
Thank you, Senator Sanders and supporters of his campaign. You have my gratitude.

Desperation. Hillary keeps slipping and Bernie keeps rising.
Smug and condescending won't get any more supporters, it's just and empty shell.

(34,825 posts)and still didn't have enough in the end to pay off her campaign debt? Obama, out of the kindness of his heart, asked his donors to chip in to pay down poor, broke Hillary's bills.

(15,429 posts)She had a more legitimate chance of winning all the way through than Sanders has all month.
By contrast, Sanders is now working on funding the rest of his career in the Senate with a nice nest egg for his wife to continue on after he's gone. His income is dependent upon his wife being a paid campaign staffer, after all.
