REMEMBER: ALL politics is local

Bernie attempting to tie Hillary Clinton to Rahm may...or may not work.

Remember that Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez is ALSO on the ballot in Cook County.

It was Anita Alvarez that held off on prosecuting Jason van Dyke for the shooting of LaQuan McDonald.

It was Anita Alvarez that received that video two weeks after that shooting.

And it might be Anita Alvarez's name that makes Cook County voters think "Rahm Emanuel" and not Hillary Clinton's.

1. No way. It's common knowledge NOW that Rahm was covering for killer cops

by delaying the tape release til after the election.

Rahm's close ties to the Clinton's are just too well known in Chicago

Too many stories like this: (x1000)

2. Not the point at all

I mean, you could talk about the Black Site over at Homan Square, for that matter.

I'm on the ground here. When people think of Rahm's various activities, I am hearing them talk a bit more about bouncing Alvarez's ass out of office, much much less so about Hillary Clinton.

Alvarez is the one that I hear that people want to get rid of.

I mean, they are kinda "meh" on Hillary, to be honest. But Alvarez is HATED!

3. Alvarez is toast and Rahm is toxic to any politician running that gets associated with him

5. i was talking about Alvarez!= the OP subject but I can understand where you could see it differently

so I will edit my reply above
if you are local you know other local candidates have ads making statements removing themselves from his alliance
(Rahm)

9. People remain outraged at Rahm

to the extent that I am hearing that outrage expressed, people are expressing it about Alvarez and not Hillary

10. Oh, it's local

Whereas some Bernie supporters think that Hillary Clinton will bear the brunt of that outrage about Rahm (and that includes Bernie himself, all of his ads have more to do with Rahm than Hillary, actually).

There's a far more local election going on where folks can (and are, from what I am hearing) vent.

11. Alvarez is there and she was beaten.

That doesn't mean Bernie was wrong to fight Rahm. The stand the Sanders campaign took there was the right thing to do.

12. Well...Rahm did suffer a pretty big defeat here

I do wonder what would have happened, though, if Sanders had mentioned the race or endorsed Foxx (as Chuy Garcia did)...granted, that would have been an unusual move.

13. Good question.

BTW...do you know how the AA vote broke in Chicago between HRC and The Bern?

14. Roughly

I've been looking ward and precinct maps but things have changed a little (some wards were redrawn last year)

About 65-35 for Hillary with AAs in Chicago

About 55-45 for Bernie with Latinos in Chicago.

Considering that both groups came out to vote against Alvarez, the Foxx-Alvarez race was the one generating the turnout...Foxx got ~25,000 more votes than Hillary Clinton in Chicago.
