The audience reaction said it all. Hillary Clinton won that one loudly and clearly.
Frankly, most voters aren't going to dissect this. Debates are what they are. Bernie lost that round, I'm afraid, and lost it badly.
Then again, Michigan wasn't really in question anyhow.

(146,254 posts)Bernie wasn't prepared for that one, and the debate was held in Michigan, for goodness' sake.
Yes, the bailout bill benefited both the banks and the auto industry. Bernie voted against it because of the banks. That doesn't change the fact that the auto industry got rescued and that Bernie voted against the bill.
Half truths are what they are. Half true. No, Clinton didn't mention the banking side of that bill. She was debating in Michigan. She spoke to the concerns of people in Michigan. They applauded strongly. After Bernie spoke, the applause wasn't there.
Bernie lost that round at the debate. Reality bites.

(3,533 posts)"Michigan wasn't really in question anyway" you mean like your prediction that Hills would win Minnesota because you know Minnesotans so well?

(146,254 posts)As for who was in the audience, I have no idea. Neither do the people who watched that debate. Do you know the makeup of the audience? If so, please post a link to the information so I can check it out.
Audience reaction at these debates is part of how they are received by viewers. I imagine a lot of Michiganders watched last night.
Anyhow, the polling for Michigan is pretty clear, really.

(24,689 posts)Bernie went off on the "not bailing out Wall Street" argument when the subject was about bailing out the auto industry. My wife who is not into politics said "why is he changing the subject?".
MineralMan
(146,254 posts)For those who don't remember the events, it did sound like changing the subject, though, and that's probably the vast majority of those watching that debate.
Not his best moment, really, and the audience made that clear.
