How Joe Biden Broke The Gish Gallop

"SNIP............................................

You can tell who won a debate by which side ends up complaining about the moderator.

..................

Paul Ryan didn’t embarrass himself so much as he let the vice president embarrass him. With Biden’s help, Ryan came off as naïve on foreign policy, sketchy on economics and scary on women’s issues.

.................

Named after the creationist Duane Gish, the Gallop is a tactic wherein a debater spews so many lies and half-truths that rebutting each one is impossible. The technique leaves their opponent shaken and unable to make clear arguments.

Biden clearly made the decision that he was going to impede Ryan’s ability to lie confidently. Ryan went at the vice president with distortions on every issue from Iran to abortion. And Biden refused to let any go. He used his facial reactions and interjections to contest the lies, demanded his equal time and tied it all together with his somewhat mocking, Senatorial use of “my friend.” What was key to his strategy is that he actually spent little of his time rebutting facts. Instead he quickly bridged to his own arguments.

2. That is some tough stuff Biden did. He had to hear every lie, react to it, call it out then

refute it and seemlessly put forth the Obama/Biden plan on that issue....on each of the lies Ryan would sprout each minute. For a full 1/2 of the 90 minutes. Ryan just had to know the lie narrative on each subject, 45 lies in all (if he was lying at one a minute). And when ask to describe himself at the end of the debate Ryan described himself as honest. I hope Obama makes an ad on that.

since they will be talking to audience members and only obliquely at each other. But in the third debate, definitely.

The town hall format should play to Obama's genuine empathy vs. Romney's phoniness.

...to let Joe coach Obama. At least give him a few pointers. I'm sure they'll discuss it all anyway.

Word leaked out that the mitt team wanted Martha to address minimitt by Mr. and that was the first thing that didn't go right for congressman ryan.

Joe is now the original master of the rebuttal to the freaking gish gallop. Freaks have nothing to say so they think their motormouth Lies will carry the day. VP Biden says "No."

7. Willard's style

has always been twisted towards the Gish Gallop. Using the Gallop allows the person to fend off his opponent as long as he can. Generally speaking,Willard has some type of complex, seems to be a bully,he will through verbal garbage for fear of being found out. Got a hunch the Willard goes postal on Obama. Notice how Willards demeanor has been crescendoing as the month moves along. His stump speech's contain more and more of his cynical and sick laughter. Almost freaky, was that Freddie Kruger.
