2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTonight is the last bright spot in Hillary's dying campaign.
Enjoy it for the next day or two, Hillary supporters.
Going forward, the states holding caucuses and primaries will be much more favorable to Bernie. His momentum will resume, and he will pull ahead nationally.

(12,689 posts)Clinton is winning states with lots of delegates by big margins, yet her campaign is dying. Yes, that makes a whole lot of sense.

"The choice is stark, keep living under corporate rule under Hillary and watch things get worse, or go with Bernie and fight TPTB to regain our Representative Democracy!"

(9,117 posts)As long as you're gracing us with your presence from your alternate universe, could you please post some pix from the George McGovern Inaugural Ball?
We REALLY WOULD like to see them. After all, it isn't every day that we get political news and commentary from alternate universes and Some of us wonder what First Lady Eleanor McGovern wore that night.

(9,841 posts)how much brighter the picture is for us going forward.
Tonight's results indicate that Hillary's lead in national polls is entirely due to her support in the Deep South.

(2,097 posts)It's not like Bernie's walking away with the rest of the country. If he can't pull off Massachusetts and Colorado tonight, I don't see how he wins bigger states like NY and IL. This thing is hers to lose -- which is not impossible, given what a lousy campaigner she is, but it's not all that likely, alas.

If you want to stop it, be my guest. I'm not. It doesn't matter because all of these states will go Republican & Oklahoma is downright crazytown.

(27,813 posts)You DO understand that the primaries are about choosing the Dem nominee, right?
You ARE aware that ALL Dems have a voice in this process, right?
You do KNOW that Democrats have an equal say in the Party's choice of nominee regardless of where they live, right?
Is this your first primary? I only ask because you don't seem to understand any of the above.

(5,761 posts)Sarcasm.
All of those states will vote Republican. Each & every single one.

(42,684 posts)I'm still trying to figure out what correlation people see in the outcome of a primary and the outcome of the GE. Candidates lose primaries and then win those same states in the GE all the time. Obama lost California to Clinton by 7 points but won the state by 14. He all but swept the same southern states as Clinton is winning now, but lost them all in the GE, yet won election -- twice.
So please explain why the outcome in primaries has any relationship to the outcome in the GE? Bernie lost the Mass primary but of course he would win the state in the GE. And I have no reason to think Clinton wouldn't prevail in Vermont, even though she was crushed in the primary.

(1,642 posts)She absolutely needs the other half of the Democratic Party and the independents to keep from being Trumped.
Bernie supporters cannot begin to "hate" her as much as long-standing Republicans. They will come out in droves to vote against her, whether or not they even like their candidate. They are so very good at hating, and they have decades of practice against the Clintons.

(80,708 posts)I do not believe it is over, but I think odds are extremely long against Sanders at this point.
What I would like is for Hillary's people to look at the places and demographics - think Colorado, think Millennials- where they've done markedly poorly, and ask themselves what they should be doing better, what policies they could be bolder on, what sort of damage is done by being associated publicly with people like Debbie Wasserman Schultz, etc.
Adrahil
(13,340 posts)Yeah, good luck with that.

(7,018 posts)and fighting against Sanders, because he is starting a "revolution." Sanders wants
the DNC to stop being influenced by and be divorced from the corruption of the
Corporate Power people. This the DNC refuses to do. Hence, their objection to him.
Bernie will eventually pull ahead, yes, but it's going to be a tough uphill fight all
the way. And people like DWS have shown that the DNC can fight dirty.
