Too many people with graduate degrees?
Was the only state that didn't vote for the winning presidential candidate in 1972?

(61,585 posts)It will be explained to us, in patient condescending tones, that Massachusetts is part of the Deep South and that a master-slave culture persists in Boston and its environs. Also, there aren't many colleges and universities in Massachusetts so the voters there are low-info.

(67,782 posts)...........Sanders' southern firewall was the border between VT and MA!

Who knew?
I'm here in Maryland, and Hillary is beating Bernie by nearly a 10 to 1 margin among blacks and Latinos. Black voters here are some of the most highly-educated in the country. Women are beating him by a wide margin as well.
Hey, they're all stupid and don't know what's good for them, according to these people.

(14,915 posts)He can lose a lot Tuesday, but he has to win SOMEWHERE outside of Vermont. If not the narrative is just going to be too much.
alcibiades_mystery
(36,437 posts)I think there are four must wins: Colorado, Minnesota, Massachusetts, and, of course, Vermont.
A loss in any of those will be very damaging to the Sanders campaign/movement. A loss in Massachusetts would be the worst outside of Vermont (let's stipulate that Bernie will win Vermont in the 3-1 or better range).

(640 posts)I think he needs at least three states on Tuesday to have some momentum. Ibut I can't figure he'd lose Ma.

SUPRC Mass. Democratic poll fav/unfav shows Sanders slightly more popular in Bay State: Sanders (71-16) versus Clinton (67-23)

SUPRC - Clinton strongest among women, minorities, Dems and middle/older while Sanders topped among men, Indies, young, and Western Mass.

(15,951 posts)since they are supposed to be soul mates. It could have made the difference in MA.

(15,951 posts)and if he does it is one of his must-win states. However, if Hillary wins it it is a big blow to his campaign. She can get away with losing it--he can't.
basselope
(2,565 posts)It is a MUST WIN for Clinton.

(15,951 posts)and I think you really deep down know that.
basselope
(2,565 posts)There are much larger states coming down the line (like California) where he will dominate her.
Godhumor
(6,437 posts)MA is part of his NE firewall. If he can't hold that, well...
book_worm
(15,951 posts)and you think one state will make the difference and based on what? there haven't been any new polls. Even if he won CA it wouldn't be a landslide and she will win most if not all the ones I mention above.
basselope
(2,565 posts)She'll win TX.. MI is still up for grabs.

(25,586 posts)Dude, even in Clinton's failed campaign against the incredibly charismatic Barack Obama she managed to win California. Sanders won't "dominate" her here. Even if he managed a win it would be a squeaker with no real margin of delegates. Clinton has the Asian vote, the Hispanic vote, and the African-American vote.
Do you not get the math? He needs BIG wins in BIG states to make up for the shellacking he's about to get. California isn't going to be a BIG win for him. Where will he pick up the kind of margins that will propel him past the very large delegate advantage Super Tuesday is going to give her? They're going to pretty much split MA. He can win MN, but by a lot? Probably not, and it's not a big delegate haul. Colorado? Again, any win will be close, with little advantage going to Sanders.
basselope
(2,565 posts)BTW. he has the Hispanic vote.
Codeine
(25,586 posts)He will not "dominate" her, guaranteed.
basselope
(2,565 posts)He will dominate her.
100's of Sanders bumper stickers... tens of thousands showing up to Sanders Rallies.
I was BEGGED to help fill out a Clinton "rally" (dinner at a celeb's house). Price started at 2K per plate. I could have gotten in for $250 just so they had enough people to fill up the room.
I said no.
She has no support here.

(25,586 posts)over Sanders. I know #berniemath is some creative shit, but how on Earth is an eleven point lead "no support"?

Clinton gets CRUSHED in CA
Codeine
(25,586 posts)Care to quantify "crushed"? I'm honestly curious what you think he's got going on for a California margin? 15 point lead? 20?
