2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOn Facebook, I've had more Democrats unfriend me
than my more right wing friends have even though I give their candidates and elected officials hell everyday for many years. Both interesting and sad since I don't have anything politically in common with my more right wing friends. Strange times.

(12,264 posts)If you don't openly support Bernie, you are a bad human and not a democrat. Funny I thought I had was after 42 years of voting for Democrats.

(73,308 posts)This is an emotional primary contest. Still, it is curious -- I don't care who people support and vote for. Just so long as they vote.
Your post reminded me of when my younger son used to tease me by saying I was the only human being with no friends. I responded by listing a few people, and he countered with, "Exactly. They are nobodies."

personality politics gets STRENGTH from keeping it vague and issue-free--it's "I like X and trust them enough that I'll support whatever policies they do because they'd never hurt me"; it's demobilizing, infantilizing--you're trained and disciplined into not trusting your judgement enough to research subjects for yourself and demand action on them

FaceBook has no buttons for "I agree" or "This is BS", only "Like."
