Related: About this forumClinton campaign looking for backup on social media
an email to supporters on Wednesday, Clinton's digital organizing director, Jess Morales Rocketto, asked for help making sure her message was "coming through loud and clear" on Facebook and Twitter. The email asks supporters to join a group that will get updates from Clinton's campaign headquarters about what to post on social media.
The email is also a tacit acknowledgment that Clinton's campaign is having trouble matching the size of Bernie Sanders' online community, particularly in tweeting about big moments in the election campaign.
"This election is heating up, and you should be right in the thick of it," she wrote. "During big moments of the campaign, it's our job to get on Twitter and Facebook and make sure Hillary's message (and our support for her!) is coming through loud and clear."

(11,417 posts)I know you all are going to be a critical mass of revolutionaries and the Republican controlled house is going to cave to you.
By the way what is the time frame we are looking at?
Bernie's first term or when he is out of office?
What do we do until enough of you get your act together build on the ACA?
but some of us prefer to dream and fight for that dream instead of preemptively capitulating. Contrary to what I imagine to be right wing assumptions about progressives, we can fight hard too.

If I was a supporter I'd be insulted if they told me what to post. Now if they told me what not to post because they said it was divisive I might consider it but I'd never post WHAT THEY WANT me to say. No way.

(154,021 posts)Very much 1990s.
When you run a campaign that has not evolved...at least this is precisely how this strikes me.
And we did have early social media back then. We nerds called it Usenet, prodigy boards and telnet

Boy was I deluded in thinking that was fast.

(24,411 posts)So, let's say you're at a Hillary rally. You and the other 12 attendees are enjoying the free donuts. You decide, "Wow! Wouldn't it be cool to show everyone that I'm enjoying sitting in this small broom closet at an elementary school in Brainerd, Minnesota!"
You're either going to Tweet about it; or not. You're either going to quickly update your Facebook status; or not. You're going to post a couple pics of a lady messing around with the cleaners on the shelf; or not.
Social-media updates happen organically and in the moment. And then the moment is gone.
That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

(26,117 posts)From the article in the OP:
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)Social-media posts have to be organic and happen because the person is inspired to engage in social media.
Furthermore, Hillary's base is older. They do not use social media as much as young people. So, she's never going to have the social-media PR that Bernie has and will continue to have.
I have noticed that her hired staff does a generous amount of tweeting on her campaign's behalf. They tweet and post to FB frequently. There seems to be very little posting from those who attend her events and such.
I don't think there's really any way to change that.
People want to vote for a candidate. They don't want to take time out to be "trained" to do PR and marketing for them.
