2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDebate predictions? my prediction is one word: UGLY
the issue of race will likely come up, and the mods will fan the flames. also expect the subpoena of the clinton foundation to come up, with a set up question for bernie
it will only go downhill from there....
thoughts?

(73,536 posts)that, I thought that "intense" might work, too!
Enjoy the debate!
With no commercial interruptions, and the fact that Ifill and Woodruff work together every day, I do expect some harmony in approach, at least. They're good at dissecting issues.

(5,066 posts)Clinton will go on the attack tonight and it will get ugly.

(12,655 posts)she is on the ropes from the landslide in nh, plus the 7+ million he has raised since. the internals, if i had to guess, are not looking as good as they had hoped, and both bernie and hillary have had major endorsements from the aa community. in addition, it has just come out the the clinton foundation has been subpoenaed regarding time when she was sos.
she is going to be on major defensive and will likely lash out. i just hope its not on the issue of race. that will be ugly on steroids.

(27,985 posts)but decided that I don't want to see it in person. I don't want to be around supporters of either candidate who are intensely passionate to the point of saying hurtful personal things to each other. I like both of our candidates a great deal. Primaries are tough and I just didn't feel like being around the intensity at the moment.

(75,480 posts)Gwen Ifil is BFF with Condileeza Rice (shopping for shoes while NOLA drowned in Katrina). Judy Woodruff, supposedly a leftie but couldn't go far enough right while reporting for CNN to preserve her career. This is going to be Koch brothers inspired and I say that because it seems it's them who seem to have taken over NPR. I hope both candidates have food tasters for the refreshments in the green rooms.

i smell another huge fundraiser for bernie tonight!!

(75,480 posts)She tries to come across as intellectual, but she's totally biased and Heritage Foundation briefed. It becomes obvious once you start parsing her highfalutin rhetoric.

(12,655 posts)i am sure it will be completely fair

(75,480 posts)in good English, however, there's a lot with the framing of the issues that leaves that unbiased part questionable.

(711 posts)Hopefully, unlike the Republicans, they'll have a great, substantive argument. They are going to agree on most issues involving race. They will both say wonderful things about John Lewis.
