Related: About this forumBill's Message to Brock: Throw the kitchen sink at Bernie
This isn't only stupid and ugly, it's reactive. All Hillary had to do with Bernie is sit back. She is the one with the massive, unbreakable firewall, we're repeatedly told. But no, in typical shit smearing, dishonest Clintonian way, they freak out and attack Bernie and his supporters.
This helps Hillary in the general, just how?
that Wall Street money now will be employed through the PACs to try to destroy Bernies reputation. The Clintons (and it is now Bill and Hillary) appear to have given up on a positive message and will just try to drive Bernies negatives up:
WJC accomplished his goal of signaling to pro-Clinton outside groups that they should start throwing the kitchen sink. David Brock, whose outside group coordinates directly with the Clinton campaign, called Bills comments a strong call to arms. As Brock told Politico, Senator Sanders is trying to live in the purity bubble, and it needs to be burst.
www.washingtonpost.com/
Red-baiting and other nasty attacks are going to be everywhere. And with a PAC, Hillary has deniability. [mini-update: Gallifreyan Jedi points out in the comments that people are hip to these tricks hope so]

(23,664 posts)Bill's eagerness for his wife to become president seems awfully suspect to me.
It will be interesting, if she prevails in the primary, to see if he goes after her opponent with the same type of personal attacks he appears to be directing at Sanders.
It has nothing to do with her, its all about him, the miserable POS.

Let them scream about dumb, unprovable crap or make things up and then fit the circumstances to fit the stories.

Just saying. I have certainly not enjoyed as much of DU as I was able in the past because of the Ignores I have added but it certainly is saving my blood pressure and allowing me to actually read good discussions without the constant blathering of those who believe truth is only true when it fits their narrative.

If Bernie wins big enough today he will be pulling in massive amounts of money
b/c his viability factor will sky rocket.
His donor base gives small amounts but they keep multiplying and hers tend
to be the larger donors and give more..hers will hit their cap limit long before
his will.
I don't expect Sanders to win the nomination but he will be in this
for the long haul and if she keeps this Brock shit up, she will increase
his chances, they're so over the top, its nuts.
There was a conservative pundit on CNN and he mentioned, I have
listeners and they ask me why is the news cycle not talking about
how Cruz won Iowa? Why is the news cycle playing down Bernie's
lead in NH, it's huge? People across the spectrum are asking
good questions about the media coverage and that won't help
Hillary attack Bernie.

(2,472 posts)he'd just donated another $100 to Bernie because, "What Bill Clinton said made me mad. I want Bernie because of his ideas. It's as simple as that. Hillary wants the same ideas I just watched crash the worldwide economy. I have to live in this shit for another 50 years or so, neither me or other people my age want to wait to get to work. The internet hasn't affected old people's lives like it has ours and we actually talk to people around the world about ideas and know there are lots of things that work that we don't do. She represents everything that began what got us here in the first place. She isn't the kind of democrat I want the party to be. We already have her kind, we call them republicans."

(2,472 posts)best campaign ever. The last time he told me he donated he said he gave twice as much as he originally planned to and the other half was for me because I had nothing to give. He's a great kid and I've talked about him here before, lol. When he was 18 and was away at college he called me on election day and informed me that I had to come and get him so he could come home to vote then turn around and take him back. At first I was a little upset that I had to drive 90 minutes each way after I had told him to get an absentee ballot and he didn't do it, but the closer I got, the happier I was that he was insisting on voting. When I got him in the car I told him how proud I was that he cared so much about voting and that every vote against Bush was important. He laughed and said voting against Bush was important, but what he cared most about was voting against Mitch Daniels. I didn't think he even knew who our governor was and I was thrilled.

After struggling for months to dent Senator Barack Obamas candidacy, the campaign of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is now unleashing what one Clinton aide called a kitchen sink fusillade against Mr. Obama, pursuing five lines of attack since Saturday in hopes of stopping his political momentum.

(15,480 posts)How competent is Bill mentally? We know he has a lifelong problem with impulse control.
He's had 2 major heart surgeries, including a quadruple by-pass.
"Brain damage" after non-brain surgery occurs often enough that it even has a name - postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) - and a page on Wiki: Postoperative cognitive dysfunction.
There are many possible contributing factors:
patient age (old >> young)
pre-existing cognitive impairment
pre-existing brain disease
how big the surgery is
cardiac surgery (especially prone to POCD)

Bill Clintons Madness: A Consequence of Heart-Bypass Surgery Brain Damage
We Need to Understand and Show Some Compassion
One of the savviest politicians of our generation, known for his wit, charm, and calm under extreme pressure, Bill Clinton appears out of character in the speeches and interviews televised since his bypass surgery September 6, 2004 and his mental deterioration may be accelerating. Remember, this is the president who withstood public impeachment before the entire world for his relationship with Monica Lewinski without once losing control. Now, he is easily angered by hecklers, and makes factual mistakes and racial slurs while aggressively defending his wifes campaign for presidency. Everyone sees his mental and emotional decline, yet to date, no medical professionals have spoken out about the cause or offered help.
Not a single one not one bypass surgeon, cardiologist or psychiatrist has stepped forward in his defense; even though all of them are trained to recognize post bypass surgery cognitive dysfunction. One of the best-kept secrets in medicine is the brain damage caused during bypass surgery. During my 40 years of medical practice I have never heard a doctor warn a patient before bypass surgery that an expected complication is memory loss. After surgery when the family complains of dads fits of anger, I have never heard a doctor admit that personality change is a common consequence of surgery. Yet these well-recognized side effects have been reported in medical journals since 1969.1
Brain damage during bypass surgery is so common that hospital personnel refer to it as pump head. The primary cause is emboli produced during surgery from clamping the aorta and from the heart-lung machine. This machine pumps blood to keep the patient alive while the heart is stopped during the operation. Unfortunately, this pump also introduces toxic gases, fat globules, and bits of plastic debris into the bloodstream of the patient under anesthesia. Once they are in the bloodstream, these particles migrate to the brain where they can clog capillaries and prevent adequate amounts of blood and oxygen from flowing to the brain. Essentially, all patients experience brain emboli during surgery and for many the damage is permanent.
In 2001, an article in the New England Journal of Medicine reported that 5-years after bypass surgery 42% of patients showed decline in mental function of approximately 20 percent or more.2 A study published this year (2008) in the Annals of Thoracic Surgery using MRI testing just after bypass surgery found brain damage in 51% of patients.3 Three years after their time on the bypass pump, significant permanent reduction in mental capacity was identified in 31% of patients. I am not talking major stroke here; but these patients cant remember names or numbers as they once did, experience sleep disturbances (including nightmares), suffer mood swings, and lose intellectual acuity. Approximately 30 percent of people suffer persistent depression and some even contemplate suicide.
Our former president needs our understanding and support. A simple explanation by his doctors of the cause of his recent aberrant behaviors should bring peace of mind to Hillary and her campaign staff. If Mr. Clinton better understood his current limitations, he and his staff could take precautionary steps to avoid embarrassments. A long-overdue explanation would help his adoring public more easily accept his mistakes and readily forgive him. It is not your fault, Mr. Clinton.

(4,775 posts)Those people are local here, and a few local restaurants have special McDougall menus in addition to their regular menus. The McDougall menus have food prepared to optimize healthy hearts and unconstricted arteries. I don't know any of the McDougalls (it's a family business) but I do know one person on their staff.
IIRC Bill Clinton went on a huge lifestyle change around the time of his bypass, designed to stop or even reverse arterrial hardening and clogging. I think he worked with Dr. McDougall in that process, though it might have been some other doctor with a similar dietary approach, i can't quite remember who it was (and I haven't had a bypass operation, knock on wood, so no excuse for not remembering).
I've had family members go through heart bypass, and they do seem a little different afterwards, though not dramatically so.
There may be some truth to McDougall's claims that Bill was behaving erratically or differently after his surgery, or not, honestly the article seemed a little overblown to me. I wouldn't put much past Bill Clinton, before or after his operation. A very intelligent and persuasive man, though those faculties are not always in service of his better angels.
