The curtain is being pulled aside, and we the people must bear witness to the nature of the players on the stage.
If you haven't donated to Bernie this month, do it now.
If you haven't signed up to volunteer, do it now.
If you haven't gotten bumper stickers or T shirts or pins, do it now.
Yes, we can. Yes, we can.

Because I know, we ALL should know by now, that she did not have any reason to believe those lies independent of what she was being fed.
Once again, we are forced to come to the conclusion that either,
A) She is a fatuous dunce, or
B) She was happy to sell the war at the behest of some group of forces that saw it as something desirable.
Desirable? In what way?
The answer to THAT question can be deduced by following the money which is clear in the clips about how Iraq is now a "business opportunity".
It is called "The Shock Doctrine".

(1,252 posts)I found it very difficult to watch this. War is hell and the consequences of these wars have, in my opinion, wreaked terrible havoc not only on those we waged war against but also on the very fabric of our own society at here at home.
I, for one, would like to choose the candidate least likely to commit us into more war.

(6,107 posts)On Sun Feb 7, 2016, 10:23 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
You forgot to answer about your fabricated quotes? Any new ones?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1251&pid=1170498
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This guy is badgering another DUer, claiming they "fabricate" things - in other words LIE - and that is against TOS from what I understand.
JURY RESULTS
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sun Feb 7, 2016, 10:36 PM, and the Jury voted 4-3 to HIDE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Don't be too sensitive. And remember the forum where you choose to post.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: This poster (DanTex) is definitely acting as a corrosive element on DU now. If any quotations were "fabricated", they should be adduced. Since this poster could not/did not show that his statement is true - which would have been an adequate defense for such a statement - it should be hidden.
This poster should have a care whether DU's community can survive his kind of support for a candidate.
Both sides should take care not to destroy this community.
Facts and data should be presented and discussed. Opinions should be respectfully discussed.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: What the alerter says. He is *repeatedly* lobbing an unsubstantiated charge of lying against a fellow DUer, and with no evidence, the other guy has no way to defend himself. These accusations seem to be of the "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" variety.
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I am sick unto death of this petty sniping between Democrats. Time outs for everyone!
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(28,118 posts)As I posted in Uncle Joe's thread, I couldn't watch it all because it bothered me so much.
I did send it out, however, with a warning.
I've often felt sorry for Hillary for the abuse she's had to take from the rtwing, however I truly think Bernie has more courage and integrity than Hillary ever had.
Go Bernie!
delrem
(9,688 posts)Clearly she's the most qualified person in history to seek the highest office in the USA.
She's totally electable and the Republicans have no ground to go after her on these credentials.
In fact Robert Kagan, Henry Kissinger, Victoria Nuland, and the whole neocon crew are begging at her feet.
Her foreign policy experience is second to none, except perhaps to Henry Kissinger. But Kissinger is finished while Hillary is still going strong, a newer wave, and I'm sure the people of the ME (especially) are waiting with bated breath for Hillary Clinton to be elected so they can gratefully receive the greatest gift that any person or country or even God can give to another. This can only be expressed in Hillary Clinton's own words:
HRC:
"And I believe that at the same time that we have to make clear to the Iraqis that they have been given the greatest gift that a human being can give another human being the gift of freedom. And it is up to them to decide how they will use that precious gift that has been paid for with the blood and sacrifice and treasure of the United States of America."
She is clearly second only to Jesus Christ, or maybe the Buddha.

(9,688 posts)for any reason.
If the worst of all possible worlds happens and she is elected POTUS, I expect 8 years of non-stop entrenchment of ... everything that's evoked by that quotation.
Any "progressive" or "liberal" wing of the Democratic party will be finished. Structurally finished - of course, that's a no brainer. But also finished in a moral and ethical sense. Nobody, but nobody, will believe it - if Dems can't stand up now, when the shit is hitting the fan and it matters the most, then nobody will ever believe they have the power, the will, to stand up and be something other than window dressing in the foreseeable future.
It'll just be more insane chaotic war and war profiteering, while the rest of the world tries to adjust and cope with this tragedy.
with Pat Buchanan's diatribe on why Blacks should be grateful for slavery because without it, they wouldn't have been introduced to Christianity.
I have never understood the belief that people we have harmed should be grateful.

(10,558 posts)My issue is that this is grasswire's OP, my posting this is off-topic and should be up to grasswire, not me. That said, something further troubles me about that alert: There were only 2 replies at the time the alert was sent when I opened it. Alerter must have been on this video almost as soon as it was posted. I find it interesting that alerter 'knew' that this was "doctored footage and a right wing smear job" literally less than 9 minutes after grasswire posted it.

There's a link in red against a yellow banner at the top of DU's site.

I guess it's something DU automatically does every year if the poster's message text area is empty?

(13,859 posts)Really? The former President who had been privy to all that "inside" information for years and who still had contacts inside the government. And are we also to believe he didn't pass on his thoughts to Hillary? Hillary made a calculated decision to support the Iraq War based on how it would benefit her future political aims.

(48 posts)she is now dismissing her vote as no big deal: I said I made a mistake, let's stop making such a big deal about it - but let's look at WHEN she said that.
In this clip at 0:26 she is still very much excited about the Iraq invasion as a business opportunity. This is 2011!
It's not until 2014 when she's preparing for her presidential run that she finally says "oops, I made a mistake".
If one were cynical, they might suspect that it's because she got burned by Obama over her Iraq vote in 2008 and she's trying to neutralize the issue.

And she's so PROUD and HAPPY to embrace the post-WW II era's most notorious butcher, who happens to be a WANTED WAR CRIMINAL in a number of countries.
That tells me every last thing I need to know about HRH.
In a world that truly cared about the rule of law, Kissinger would have been hanged for crimes against humanity 30 years ago and his ashes dumped in a river.
