that Americans tend to view themselves as 'middle class' even when they're working poor. We want to think of ourselves as 'middle class', but most don't know just how much the playing field is tilted.

until my income was HALVED immediately after the 2008 meltdown. I waited and waited for an upturn that never came.

Now I'm always astonished when I find out I qualify for poverty-level benefits.

My job disappeared short after Obama took office, and I've only just gotten back to some contract work that's netting me less than a third of what I used to make, and leaves me still flirting with breaking over the poverty line.

"On June 18, 2011 artists Ligorano/Reese presented a temporary monument in the garden of Jim Kempner Fine Art in NYC called "Morning In America." The installation was witnessed by hundreds and lasted a total of 8 hours throughout the hot day.

...A THOUSAND CUTS is a timelapse video of the event. The soundtrack was inspired by an excerpt from Senator Bernie Sanders 8 hour filibuster on the U.S. Senate floor against the extension of the Bush tax cuts and the effects on the middle class. It is orchestrated to music by composer/violinist Michael Galasso"

Probably over 25% at this point. Very sad for the average folks in this country. Real change needs to happen soon.
