... (which I assume you are), it has nothing to do with who owns the words spoken; it has to do with who owns the transcription of those words.

I now understand that Hillary owns the transcripts as per her speaking engagement contracts.

And she has the right to tell anyone who wants access to those transcripts to go pound sand. And I hope she finds the "polite words" to convey that message.

Someone DOES own the transcript wherein those words were recorded.

That "someone" in this case is Hillary.

And that someone is under no obligation to release the transcript that recorded those words to you, or anyone else.

I think she should provide the transcripts or videos of her speeches, but I don't think there will be any problem with them.

People give nice speeches at the kinds of events at which she spoke. I would be very surprised if the speeches give rise to any controversy of any kind whatsoever.

All of the candidates should make their speeches in say the past 12 years, available to the public. I'd love to see the transcripts of the speeches of the Republicans. Now there might be some really disgusting, shocking stuff in those.

... the only reason BSers are desperate to see those transcripts is because they're hoping they can find something that will be the downfall of HRC's campaign.

And the reason they are desperate to find something that will be the downfall of HRC's campaign is because that's the ONLY way Bernie has a shot at the nomination.

He can't win it on his own merits. Unless Hillary is "taken down" by something catastrophic, BS doesn't stand a chance.

Abuella can do what she likes and keep the transcript secret, but if she keeps them hidden from view it raises the concern that she can't be trusted.

What we expect to find is absolute pedestrian drivel. That's what we want EVERYBODY to see-that she has accepted millions of dollars for NOTHING of value. And then we will let everyone draw their own conclusions...

But as usual with her, refusing to share them raises the live possibility that something in there is damning. It also indicates that that's how she will behave as president. Channeling Nixon is not a good idea

....someone posted here part of her standard agreement for speeches, and it specifies that no transcript or video of any event may be kept other than her own, and that she has the rights thereof.

So she's got it all locked up, unless there was a bartender who left his phone on.
