Sanders Campaign Is a Genuine Progressive Social Movement for Democracy
Worth reading long endorsement but last paragraph below.
And who best to take on such a system but a candidate who is straightforwardly honest, boldly courageous, who has not been corrupted, who receives nothing from Wall Street or the corporations who have hijacked American democracy, and who owes them nothing in return? This campaign is a rare, perhaps unprecedented event in this country's modern electoral history. It deserves the support of everyone who favors social and economic justice

(6,440 posts)There's something about Sanders that I think Mad Mel might object to. By which I mean his policies - why, what did you think I meant?

(1,145 posts)because he's always been very open and activist-oriented with his progressive views (not the Hillary-type progressive either).
His endorsement of Bernie comes as no surprise and I'm glad he's lending his support to the movement.

(17,505 posts).... well, 19th century clothes for the miniseries "Queen"...
He's a really gentle and nice guy. I'm glad he's also obviously smart and paying attention.

(4,221 posts)but my biggest claim to fame is a toddler costume that was on Toddlers & Tiaras for like two seconds, er, wait...not something to brag about, actually. Still trying to find my niche.
Danny Glover has always seemed like he'd be a nice guy; glad to hear it.

(17,505 posts)He was to fly into Charleston for a long one time fitting session...of course the day before shooting began. He fell asleep on the plane and no one woke him up until they landed in Columbia (SC)! So someone had to drive to Columbia and get him. No fittings! I had patterned and cut his stuff (nothing elaborate mind you) according to measurements (he's a big guy) and it all fit perfectly....of course
Seriously, it wasn't anything too difficult, mostly 19th century pants and shirts, one sorta unlined short-coat. All of it was teched (made to look worn and old....he played a sharecropper after all) on the set.

(34,421 posts)When I saw the headline, I smiled and thought to myself, OK, they finally found a high profile, mainstream celebrity to use as evidence of the tide changing.
But learning that he also backed Nader kind of puts things in perspective. Lol. Still, good for Bernie.

(11,546 posts)I was a flight attendant and he was flying home from a protest to help agricultural workers. He was REALLY hungry because he hadn't eaten in days (as part of the protest) so I found him an extra meal. He's a very nice man with a big heart.
