(82,802 posts)She is awesome. She is a gem I found by listening to Air America and she still shines.

(2,550 posts)Bernie was pretty decent, but I think about the GE.

(23,156 posts)what exactly do you mean by sounding more Presidential?
I did not watch the debate, so perhaps you can express it in a way that doesn't depend on having seen the debate.
Realistic.
She spent more time explaining her positions and reasoning, as well as understanding it takes time/opportunities to get things passed.
Bernie has repeated the same lines and not given much depth. He spoke in an inspiring way a few times, but then I kept thinking "how will this get enacted?"
I also kept wondering which one I'd want handling WW3. I think Hillary.
SheilaT
(23,156 posts)I don't happen to agree with you about which one I'd want handling anything, but I sincerely thank you because it helps me understand what you and probably a lot of people mean when they say "sounds more Presidential."
That is NOT snark, but an honest thanking.
Here on DU, with the lines so viciously drawn, it sometimes eludes a lot of us that those who favor the other candidate are still honest, thinking people, who simply come to different conclusions based on the same evidence.
I will add here, that for me the whole notion of sounding or behaving Presidential just isn't on my radar. That does not mean anything at all except that I evaluate some things differently from others. No big deal. We all have things that matter more, or at least differently.
Again, thanks for your response.

(7,830 posts)Maybe we don't want a polished smooth talker now. We want sincerity with that ability to help bring US back to true Democracy. I don't want someone cast for the role anymore.

(2,550 posts)So I'm not looking for a political revolution.

(74,919 posts)Bernie, by decision. Hillary won a few in the middle rounds, but Bernie won the early and late rounds convincingly.

SheilaT
(23,156 posts)that the only reason Bernie wins online polls is because his minions vote in them over and over. Such bullshit.

(80,708 posts)NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!
SheilaT
(23,156 posts)I am quite astonished by the apparent naivete of the Hillary supporters who honestly and sincerely believe that the ONLY reason Bernie wins on-line polls is because of a cadre of dedicated robots who simply click on the on-line polls, endlessly and repeatedly.
As it happens, if a poll is asking something like, Who won the debate, and since I don't watch the debates I don't vote, but I'm interested in the outcome, I can't imagine I'm the only honest person out there who doesn't vote something she can't vote on.

(800 posts)both very good tonight. Hillary was stronger than she was in the town hall.
He refuses to directly attack her and is very good about staying on message and conveying his beliefs, which no one doubts are genuine.

(3,034 posts)Hillary made some good points also, but she often forgot to say what she would do while she's "getting things done". I believe in doing the right things right.
She is still too beholden to that "one little street" and I also thought she waffled on the death penalty. I am glad that I have lived in states without a death penalty since 1952 (Michigan and West Virginia).

(62,336 posts)Clinton was shaken a bit.

(6,282 posts)It's not only wrong, it is incredibly weakening in the general election. It makes me cringe.
However, he is still by far the superior candidate.
TCJ70
(4,387 posts)...he'll be asked to clarify it and I'll be interested to hear his answer. Otherwise I thought he dominated the majority of it.

(41,600 posts)Wall St. Business of fraud, which they all knew was fraud, brought our economy to its knees. They knew what they were doing was wrong and continued doing it anyway...until millions of citizens lost their life savings and their homes...and the people who caused that disaster, were bailed out, with our tax dollars and not one of them went to jail for what they did.
Watch the movie, maybe it'll stop the cringing when he speaks the truth. Wall St. Is corrupt.

JonLeibowitz
(6,282 posts)Wall Street is corrupt, but they have an essential role in our economy. And much of what they have produced over the past 100 years is of value. Do they need a heckuva lot more regulation? You betcha. Is the business model itself fraud? No.
They are exceptional at bribing politicians into themselves becoming a fraud foisted upon American voters, however.
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)now I would not be so as to ever suggest that the last minute addition of this debate was related to the overarching focus on a topic widely regarded to be Sec. Clinton's strong suit...
but even so I still think Sanders won.
JonLeibowitz
(6,282 posts)I prefer it going last really. It is not the primary concern of Democratic primary voters.
Renew Deal
(82,802 posts)And why shouldn't it be discussed?
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)If you ask me, it's been discussed into the ground, and I'm sure it will continue to be discussed.
Compare that to, for example, the domestic issue of marijuana legalization- no small matter, given that-
it ties into our huge rates of incarceration of non-violent drug users and the fact that four states have legalized for recreational use, and
more states, like California, are likely to in November, and
given that fact it will likely be a factor in motivating young voters to the polls, AND
the inescapable fact that already-legal CO is a crucial electoral swing state;
so given all that, why do you suppose it is that we haven't gotten one single concise answer from Hillary during ANY of the debates on that particular issue, in fact when questioned about it she invariably clumsily changes the subject to Heroin addiction?
...
We've had scads of discussion on foreign policy. Whether we needed this conversation to be fully 50% foreign policy (and another 20% inane spatting over the definition of labels like "progressive", which does diddly shit for the American people and their concerns) I think is a different and very valid question.

(6,299 posts)..... Bernie's supporters here at Democratic Underground outnumber Hillary's supporters by around 6 to 1. Exactly how did anyone think this poll would turn out?
