Question for Southerners

I would like to know why so many Southerners, who receive most of the benefits of Federal spending, are so damned determined to vote Republican..

Anyone, especially if you live in the South, can you help me understand..
Thanks

Some just down right hate the black man in the white house. At least that is what my daughter-in-laws family voted republican. They are poor and are dems but just couldn't and wouldn't vote for Obama. They voted Clinton. It is nutty for sure. Of course I am a transplant and lived here apprx 20 yrs.

If you had watched the Bill Mahar show a few weeks back he had Ms Pelosi the documentary film maker on his show. She went out in the heartland. Mississippi and you could see the poor people voting against their own interests. Mainly on social issues not and not on their economy interest. Funny thing is some of those social issues wouldn't even effect them.

Who do billionaires like George Soros or Warren Buffett vote for Democrats? You'll find that money isn't everything to everyone.

In a word - racism.

White people are losing the demographic race and they are scared. Scared of becoming a minority. Scared that they will be treated as harshly as they have treated minorities.

The Repubs represent the "Good ole' Days" where Whites ruled and everyone had to play by their rules.

They also feel entitled. Their view - White people built this county. Never-mind it was on the backs of slaves and immigrant workers.

I personally have many family members that still use the "n" word. I kid you not.

They loathe the changes they see.

My .02.

On Edit - Racism is not just a Southern thing BTW.
