Brett Rosengren: it was my own question directed to any candidate

Brett Rosengren @Brett_Rose1596

Thanks everyone for the love! For those wondering, it was my own question that I previously submitted directed to any candidate #DemTownHall

Brett Rosengren @Brett_Rose1596

This was not completely random, but I was my own question directed to any candidate

Addy Cole @addycole

@qualityrkc @Brett_Rose1596 The staff at CNN. #demtownhall had a disclaimer that questions were screened and sorted.

Can we please fucking move on from this talking point?

Surprise! They take questions before hand and have you ask it after they choose you! Did no one here know this?

3. It was the first thing I wrote.

On my phone. Sat down at the computer and debunked it within like 30 seconds of looking up the guy who asked the question. But no one bothered to even fact check.

Poor Brett's twitter feed blew the fuck up: https://twitter.com/Brett_Rose1596

5. That's what they do when they screen questions.

But Brett said he didn't care which candidate got his question, so that is moot anyway.

I'm sure a lot of really good and considered questions were dropped, too, which we'll never know about. That's what the whole screening process does. It's not a coincidence Clinton got a Muslim question from a woman wearing the head coverings.

6. Exactly. They don't pick the questioner, they pick the question

When hundreds, if not more, questions gets submitted, it is an easy way to form the town hall as they wish to.

AKA the whole townhall thing is a joke and they might as well just have it be an interview with Chris Cuomo. But the optics on that aren't as appealing.

TV is just theatre with annoying ads.

7. Yeah, but the damn conspiracy in the 51 rec thread implied...

...he was asking a question he didn't even write.

13. They picked the candidate to ask the question of. How they determined which questions would go into

the questions to be asked pool is another matter.

11. That makes sense. I assumed that questions were pre-screened and chosen before hand.

It wasn't clear to me, though, why he said that he could see why they chose that question for her. The explanation in the OP makes sense.

Thanks for clearing it up.

15. That makes sense...

...and does explain his comment about the question being "given to" Clinton.
