It's a good thing there are so many of us that don't believe the system we have now works for the middle-class, the working poor. When big money writes our laws and has such undue influence over our elections - it's most definitely time for a change!

All the repugs are more thin skinned, insecure and vengeful than she is, every single one. They'd also destroy our country if they win, something HRC wouldn't do. I'm voting for the aspirational candidate, Bernie, but if the socialism charge is too much and he doesn't win the general election nomination, I will 100% vote for whoever has the D behind their name in the general.

She hasn't answered it once. Reparations not practical...whatever they are? Well, Bernie is being charged with infidelity regarding this all-consuming problem in society.

What the hell is it? You didn't answer the question. If she answered it so many times, then I'm sure there will be plenty of notations/links, etc.

She doesn't need to know, but since Sanders wants $15 an hour and unrigging the political system from billionnaires, et al he should know?

Good lawd.

77. Because its revolutionary to proffer either SP, free college and 15 an hour wages in this country

... why not reparations?

That's how the whole conversation got started, why be pragmatic with something like reparations and not single payer?

She did answer the question, she doesn't think its doable in the political climate... that's fair, she's not the candidate that's going to push the legislation envolope but build on what's there... that's' fair.

That's not Sanders stance on many issues, he is dismissing the political climate all together otherwise he'd not proffer something like Single Payer knowing the ACA hardly passed with a controlling dem congress.

88. Yeah, those darn Old Democratic values...health care for all. Right. You didn't answer

the question...why is Bernie being accused with a dogwhistle on race? Nobody Knows What It Means or Anything other than to pull some word out of their somewheres and pin it on Bernie.

She didn't answer...is the correct answer. It's not political viable...correct again. Why then is Bernie to be Mr. Magic Man?

Your other rhetoric is your opinion and that's fair. Reparations Bashing needs to stop...at least until we know WTF it is.

We know what health care for all is...and he's put out how he's going to pay for it many, many times. Asking the Wealthy to pay their fair share. That's just a start. He's put out many others, like SS tax on incomes higher than $102,000...that's fair. Lotsw of other ways the income inequality has choked the life out of the Middle Class.. I take it you're in the 1% by your statement...just a guess, and IMO and all such necessary disclaimers.

I've said Nothing about Revolution, except I'll agree that's what Bernie stands for and I stand with him on that. But has nothing to do with the subject that I raised.

Reparations is the dog whistle and Sanders is not "accused" of using that...he's "accused" with failing to make a plan...that no one else wants to do.

Why? Rinse and repeat. No one knows exactly or even vaguely what it is. Not HRC Not PBO Just Bernie LOL

Cutting out the obscene profits of the student loan heist and the BK bill (they can't be BKd) which I believe Ms. Clinton voted for. It levels the playing field so that the jobs that used to only require a HS diploma back in my days, now require a college degree. Also, in California, it was free. I paid nothing for my 4 year degree...legally. Called the NDEA .... National Defense Education Act.

Last edited Mon Jan 25, 2016, 03:29 PM - Edit history (1)

Sanders could get NO support from Congress, and I would still feel better with him in the White House. And that's because I trust him more than I trust Clinton.

I trust him more NOT to use the military when it's not prudent to do so. I trust him more NOT to play "chained cpi" games with Social Security. I trust him more NOT to sign "free trade" agreements that will give huge multi-national corporations more power than they already have.

And the reason that I trust him more is that he has done more to earn my trust. He has earned my trust by voting against the war in Iraq, and by voting against the Patriot Act (twice), and by voting against the Wall Street bailout, and by voting against Bush's shitty No Child Left Behind nonsense. Clinton could have earned my trust by doing these things, but she didn't.

But thank you for your concern.

Sanders mostly gets things passed by amending other bills. For example, the ACA would not have included funding for community health centers without Sanders pushing through an amendment to the ACA.

If you really want to dig through it, Congress.gov has a lovely search engine.

work to increase the number of Dems in the senate (to regain the Dem majority - wholly possible) and increase numbers of Dems in the house (probably won't get majority any time soon but we can increase numbers there).

With Sanders as President and a Dem majority in at least one chamber, a lot of good work could be done.

41. Never thought about that pairing

That could be a great idea, but the problem would be the third in line for president....

Current order

2 Vice President of the United States
3 Speaker of the House - Paul Ryan (R)
4 President pro tempore of the Senate - Orrin Hatch

I don't think she's interested in all that goes into the job. She just wants to have it.

83. Skinner gave Hillary supporters a set of blue letters with red arrows that you make yourself.

You put an "up" carat right in front of a capital letter. So you would put ^ right next to B to get ^B

Of course, Skinner intended it for ^H

But you can do it with all the letters: ^C ^A ^T

Try it out for yourself using the "preview" feature.

95. Robert Reich embraced free trade and NAFTA before he embraced Bernie.

He pushed Bill Clinton to prioritize NAFTA before universal healthcare -- which was what Hillary wanted to be the priority -- and Reich won.

I don't know why anyone would want to brag about his endorsement.

Later in the summer, NAFTA takes the fore. You are passionate about this. AFL-CIO President Lane Kirkland is in your ear all the time. Elsewhere in the administration, there is enormous pressure in support of NAFTA. How did the president deal with that? He had you and labor in one ear, and Rubin and Panetta in the other.

Well, personally, I was and still am a free trader. I think that free trade is inevitable and overall it helps everyone. But labor was very against NAFTA. And I remember appearing on so many stages in front of various labor groups and being booed off the stage because I was representing the president, and the president was committed to NAFTA. He was committed to NAFTA in the campaign. He said, during the 1992 campaign, "I am going to sign the North American Free Trade Act."

What was your advice to him during the debate though?

My advice to him during the campaign was to sign it.

And then later, once, Kirkland was telling you guys that it was going to be a "f-ing disaster," and you were going to come to regret it. You passed that on to the president. What was his reaction?

He shrugged. He was willing to take on organized labor over the North American Free Trade Act. I think the real issue there was what kind of priority NAFTA should get. Should it be one of the highest priorities of the administration in those first years? Should he spend a lot of political capital on it? Should he delay health care in order to get NAFTA done first? And the first lady wanted health care first. She didn't want him to expend political capital on NAFTA. She was concerned, and in retrospect she was absolutely right, that if health care came after NAFTA, then health care might never get done.
