2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhy is Hillary's 2008 campaign chair directing this town hall?
When George Stephanopoulos was not allowed to moderate a debate, only because he gave a contribution? Oh, and they like each other.
Now this so called "Town Hall" debate, ginned up by DWS and Hillary, was probably planned all along. Knowing there would be complaints because there WERE too few debates, they plan to throw in this type of event, where they say Hillary "performs well". Such shenanigans!!
Also, Hillary has already been caught stacking the audience questions at her town hall style debates. So why are the people being forced to endure such a shit show, all to try and show HILLARY at her finest one week before the Iowa caucuses? How can DWS and the DNC make this crap up as they go along? Can we sanction the party for this? After all, those were their rules?

No possible conflict of interest here. I hope Sanders reams them for this during the event.

(12,041 posts)On a side note, trust me when I say you do not want George Stephanopoulos moderating a debate. He moderated one between Hillary and Obama in 2008 and he was the absolute worst moderator I have ever seen in a debate. Nearly every question to Obama was based on a right-wing smear such as Reverend Wright while Hillary got all softballs.
It was a major shit storm on DU at the time, all of Obama's supporters were pissed.

(24,411 posts)is a very good friend and colleague of Hillary Clinton. She's also the chair of the Iowa Democratic Party.
That's how she's in a position to head up this "Town Hall."
I'm outraged that it was foisted on us, on the Iowa electorate--simply because Hillary is behind and her camp decided that they needed to do something. Well, where were the debates when MOM and Sanders needed them?
The deck is so stacked for her. I don't think she'll end up winning, but you can bet she's got plans for this Town Hall. They didn't organize this so Hillary could give a stump speech. I think they're planning on trying to lob some grenades at Bernie.
And yes, this Town Hall is moderated by Chris Cuomo, but all the questioners are Iowa voters. Who attends the debate (who gets in the audience) is determined by who responds to the Iowa Democratic Party email. If you respond, your name is put into consideration and they'll draw names. I sent the email back. I assume that they will chose questioners from the pool of audience attendees.
If they want to plant questions, this is the easiest way to do it. And yes, Hillary has planted questions at a Town Hall in Iowa in 2008.

Reality check: most if not all of the Iowa party leadership endorsed Hillary long ago. Bernie knew that going in, and he's successfully dealing with it.

(11,945 posts)Hopefully Bernie and the people of Iowa will be ready for it.
Social media might help with the latter.
People should take notes and report on it so everyone will know what happened.

(12,655 posts)there are efforts to counteract the rigging being assembled as we speak...protests in and out of the venue, and some folks are posing as hillary supporters to get in and maybe ask a question.

(2,546 posts)The dishonesty is what is really killing her now. It only more firmly entrenches her sordid history going back in the minds of the voting public. Hillary is her own worst enemy and she has zero people to blame other than herself!
