O'Malley will play a huge role directing our party and its platform. As President, DNC chair, or some other extremely influential position. He is my kind of democrat. He is my kind of politician. He is my kind of human being.

...a solid position of influence in the Democratic party for someone promising a true progressive agenda.

Something certainly worth considering, if his campaign fails.

I truly believe we can adopt his campaign platform at the convention and name him as the new head of the DNC. It would rejuvenate many(not all) who are currently seriously dissatisfied with leadership. I don't bring it up often out of respect that he is running for President and his supporters here(of which I consider myself) deserve to have that conversation held later. I still think it shows how influential I feel he is so I have started mentioning it here and there.

He is in his early 50's. IMO, he will be well positioned in 2024 (or 2020 if an (R) wins this time around) for a winning bid.

His running now will give him the experience needed to run a winning campaign later. This isn't an easy thing to do and having some experience at it will be an advantage.

I like the guy. He clearly has a great future in our party. I can see him as President some day. I just don't see a path for him this cycle.

But if the Democratic nominee doesn't win in 2016 I suspect that Elizabeth Warren will be the nominee in 2020.

If Hillary wins the nomination and the presidency in 2016 then her running mate will have a leg up for 2024, regardless of whether or not she wins reelection in 2020. I suspect that her running mate will be Julian Castro.

O'Malley's best shot at the White House might come in 2028. If Clinton (or Sanders) loses in 2016, and Elizabeth Warren gets the nomination in 2020, then Warren might tap him to be her running mate. If she wins the presidency then that would put O'Malley in a good position to win the nomination, and the presidency, in 2028, regardless of whether or not Warren wins reelection in 2024.

It wasn't intended to be. I honestly like all three candidates.

Let me make my "edit" in this post:

If Bernie is the nominee in 2016 I suspect that he will also pick Julian Castro as his running mate. And if Sanders wins the presidency in 2016, regardless of whether or not he wins reelection in 2020, I think Castro--or whoever the VP is--has the upper hand for 2024.

He's got compassion, youthful energy, city and state executive experience and probably the most comprehensive detailed strongly liberal policy proposals among the three candidates. With the fewest negatives, imho. I think he could get a lot done with Congress too. Give him a serious look Sunday evening folks.
